still fighting the shower monster
boy, I can sympathize
The Shower monster
The Shower monster feels like it may be a reoccurring enemy for Hannah.
Let's be honest, using magic to make yourself blind and unfeeling isn't a healthy way to fight this problem :)
Hannah's got some serious body issues going on and she's not really had the time to work through them or anyone to talk to about it all either.
Nessa
Hannah is...
Still as stubborn as ever, as she tries to find a way to deal with this new body/life scenario she's been pushed into.
I love reading about her using magic, as well as her mental tangents and thought-traps.
Also i can't quite remember what her mental age is supposed to be? 22? 24? When was she kicked out of home again?
Max is a pain in the butt and if he could just stop being so goddamned obsessed i have a feeling they could have been friends again, but no, in his eyes she's his forever-wife and nothing less will do... although he /had/ been using memory charms on her all her life until she rediscovered magic, sooo I'm also guessing that she probably wouldn't be too keen on keeping the friendship going, upon reflection.
Anyway, i love this story. Thanks for posting.

It's easy to forget she's
It's easy to forget she's been alone, acting as the magical equivalent of a one-man-army for a few years with the way she act's sometimes.
Then she makes a meal of doing things on her own, where a normal person would at least consider asking for help, just because being a team player doesn't seem to come naturally to her. :)
The magic will happen a bit more often for a while, Hannah only has a few ways to deal with things and when yelling at it or getting angry don't work she tends to fall back on the magic among other things.
Her old body's age was roughly 24, give or take a few months.
Mental age is a bit weirder if you think about it, while she means 24, she's technically got 2000 years of life experience in her head and millions of years worth in storage she can access.
From that point of view Max is pretty much the only person who COULD be considered her mental age :)
She was kicked out at some point after prom and hadn't talked to her mum again until they go to rescue her in [1.4], so when she was 17/18 basically.
Max's reactions in this chapter are very telling while Hannah reams him out.
Memory charms are going to be a bit of a sore point between them but even Hannah uses them when she has to and he thought he was doing the 'right thing' at the time by keeping Sarah's brother in the dark about magic so he could stay close to her for when 'Arista' woke up again.
Whether Hannah will see it that way or not is a whole different story though :)
Thanks for the comment Amy, hope this helped a bit.

Finally a Win
Although maybe I would've made a bigger scene at the dinner table, but it seems to have worked out. I wonder when Sarah is going to get a chance to debrief Hannah on what happened at the hub.
It seems like Hannah tends to
It seems like Hannah tends to like getting her revenge after things calm down a bit.
I'll not say more on the other point though Fuji, we'll just have to see won't we? :)

...Is an odd reaction to have when you get gonged!
Mu-hu-hahaha! :3
Hopefully it makes a little more sense in the next chapter or so, but even then I sometimes wonder if it might be easier if we could spend even 10 minutes inside John's head instead of Hannah's tangled mess of inner-monologues lol
You're certainly not the first one to be thrown for a loop with this chapter, Michelle, (John did too, after all!) so you're in good company at least :)
