and hello to the Advent season!
I've had a busy / interesting few days since my Wednesday post. Thursday's weather set the tone for the next few days, dry, quite bright but with a coolness that has kept me well covered up. After a brief visit from BC author Samantha MD, i set out for a shorter ride after Tuesdays efforts, just a loop into the lanes beyond Bath before meeting Aunty B for the ubiquitous bacon butty. By the time we got back to the house i had a little over 62km in the tank.
First job on Friday, apart from laundry, was to go fetch my spending money for the upcoming trip to Germany, i'm on quite a tight budget this year but i should just about manage a Gluhwein or two! As luck would have it, IKEA was just next door so i called in for brunch before returning to press on with some writing stuff. The result was the release of the next chunk of Changing Lives going live on Kindle, Click on the image to go have a look.
I had originally planned on a ride on Saturday but an iffy forecast swapped that to today so instead i had a decent walk before starting on the next Changing Lives chapter, a difficult job as the characters are getting quite emotive. I didn't get as far as i had hoped, it'll have to wait until next weekend now.
And on to today, a clear, bright day but that breeze kept the big gloves on as i did a bit of a wander through Brizzle before taking a loop south and east through some new lanes that eventually spat me out in Bath. I got caught in a short shower before i departed the city for the familiar bike path return to base, a nice 72km with 10m/km of climbing so not too shabby.
A quick shower then it was time for dinner, a semi roast featuring Lamb shanks in an interesting 'gravy', it certainly hit the mark. The penultimate job of the day has been packing for the trip, its only five days so i don't need much but deciding exactly what has been, as usual, a pain. But its done now, just need to make a few sarnies in the morning, don't want to spend all my money in motorway services.
Last job of course has been posting the next Gaby chapter here for free on BC, Balancing Trick 24 sees our lass doing what she does best once more, drama? you bet, it wouldn't be Gaby otherwise!
Well that's me caught up, what does this week look like? Well i depart at silly in the morning from Brizzle and i should arrive at my hotel near Dusseldorf around supper time. Over the next three days i'll be visiting the Christmas markets of Koln, Dusseldorf and Bonn - possibly more if i can fit them in, before returning on Friday. So no midweek post but things should be as usual next weekend.
Bye for now, i'll be getting an early night,
Tschussie,
Madeline Anafrid

Gute Reise?
My days of speaking German are long past, but I'm pretty sure that that is correct.
I've done the Weinachtsmarkt circuit in Koln and Bonn, thirty five years or so a go, and it genuinely blew my mind. Such a wonderful wonderful experience.
Have a really good trip.
Tschuss.

Maddy, you are blessed with a maritime climate
A WEEEEE bit damp but few extremes of weather.
Here in Wauwatosa, AKA the VERY north shore of Chicago we got our 1st serious snowstorm of this winter.
Worse in Chicago, South Bend Indiana (University of Notre Dame) and the west shore of Michigan due to lake effect snow
8 to 14 inches here, add a foot or more with the lake effect
Of course, my sister was at the BIG Dr Who convention in Lombard for the two days of fluffy white death
Hoped to attend a Christopher Eccleston panel but the time got changed so no luck
I hope all here are well and suffered no mishaps this wild weekend

Last Thursday
We had 37C here in Brizvegas. Just a harbinger of summer. It's cooled down a couple of degrees since.
Lamb shanks are one of my favourites!
