i've had so far today!
So i set off bright and early for my Birthday ride, a trip to Weston Super Mare out on the coast, the sun was shining, the forecast dry and the wind insignificant. But then, two hours in and half an hour from my destination the chain skipped once, then again, something caught my eye so i stopped to have a look. and there it was, a broken link. Not ideal but i can sort that, what i couldn't sort was the two inch split in the front tyre which now had inner tube herniating out, oh bgr! Yep, there was no way to make the tyre remotely safe to continue, the split being along the bead and whilst its annoying that the tread looked good for maybe another1000km or more, it has covered a good chunk of road over the last six months including a lot of 'not' tarmac. The chain however was only fitted at the beginning of the month so not good at all.
I could possibly have nursed everything the few miles to WSM but it was quite iffy and so i decided to abort and called for intercounty rescue. My plan for an age bashing ride was over after just 43km and i'm down £20 quid worth of tyre and tube (the tube exploded on the return journey as i forgot to deflate it, dur). I have the parts to sort it all out but birthdays are not for mechanicing bikes so that's a job for tomorrow.
In other news, i've done a couple of reasonable walks and completed over 100k steps in February so that's good. On Monday i started writing a new travelogue and yesterday, after my 9km walk, i got another chapter of the new Gaby tale completed putting me ahead of schedule - busy, busy, busy.
As for the rest of the week, more writing, more riding and more of Bev's stew!
That's all for today, guess i should sort out tonight's dinner,
Byee,

At least...
It is not chucking it down (not a cloud in the sky here) unlike most days so far this year.
Happy B'Day.

a bit
cool here this afternoon after the grey clouds made an appearance but yes, dry.
Venison in the oven, pretty much everything else for the B'day feast (its a shared do as its Aunty Bev's big day tomorrow) is ready, there's even a glass of vino and chocolate cake for des(s)ert.

just an update
The venison (left over from xmas) was yummy, the Yorkshires however were a bit of a failure. As for the chocolate cake, well it was okay i guess.
until next year then...

Happy Birthday?
Sometimes those birthdays don't go as planned. A couple days before your birthday I enjoyed one myself. Everybody has one of those disasters on their birthday don't they? The night before electricity went off, refrigerator quit. Not something could be put aside, right? Bright and early birthday girl was outside with her head stuck inside a meter box, calling elec company I was pulling their meter. I am not working it hot. Twenty minutes later service showed up pulled the meter than did a disconnect on the transformer. An hour job, took me all day. He showed up at five as I was finishing rewiring back into the box. He lit me up and everything was back online including the refrigerator.
Happy Birthday Barb, I was too tired to do anything besides take a bath now water and electricity was back on again.
Hugs Maddy, I know it doesn't help even when we know others have experienced the same. But now you know.

Weston Super Mare ?
Across a channel from Cardiff, Wales.
Weston Super Mare was the childhood home of John Cleese, of The Frost Report and Monty Python.
Also has ties to actor/comedian Bob Hope and Roald Dahl. the famed children's author.
A bad tire and chain, OUCH.
What next, snapped spokes and a cracked frame?
At least you caught the problems before they could cause an accident.
Broken parts cost time money but are fixable.
A broken body, not so easy to patch-up.

and on
my Birthday too!
As they say, shit happens.
