of exercise
Yep, i seem to have found some exercise mojo this week. The flip side of that is a lack of writing going on but more on that later.
So after Tuesday's big ride, with the wind having flipped direction, i set off in an easterly direction to enjoy the Spring sunshine, eventually stopping at Lacock to eat my sandwiches. It was a joy to be out without all the winter gear and my spirits were high as i set off for the return leg, hopefully with some wind assist. Okay, it didn't feel that strong but it did push me back a bit quicker than my outward journey, finishing with 112km and 787m, at a speed something of a step up from recent rides.
Usually after such a ride, the next day won't involve too much effort and indeed i had Friday pencilled in for writing but the weather was looking too good to waste indoors. The day was sealed when i made a couple of sandwiches and dressed ready for a decent walk, i had an idea and set off. That idea was to follow the Frome Valley walkway, something i've done before during Covid, but perhaps go a bit further than i did back in 2020. It's a grand name for what, at times, is a difficult and muddy riverside footpath through the South Glos. countryside.
I made a lunch stop near Iron Acton before continuing on into Yate where at least some of it was paved, with tired feet and maybe a little relief i reached the bus station where my onward transport, by luck was waiting. 19km walked, a fishing egret and family of roe deer spotted, i was ready for a sit down. The bus ride to Emersons Green took about thirty minutes, i had planned on taking an onward bus back to the house but it would be a fifteen minute wait.
And so i started walk 2 of the day, a further 6km pushing the day's exercise to 25km and my return to just turned 16.00! I was tired, a bit foot sore but overall it was a good day, my biggest walking day for quite a while. The pushback was that i didn't get any writing done, and to be truthful, whilst i know what i want to write, deciding how to do it is the big question that i've still not resolved.
With another great day forecast, it was tempting to go for another lengthy ride on Saturday but sense prevailed and instead it was a much shorter, 40km road collecting ride, a 'recovery' ride if you like. Which is what i needed after the previous few days - i even found a windmill that i didn't know existed.
Which brings us to today, another bright, sunny affair, a day ripe for chilling although to do so inside is criminal! So yes, i will go out for some sort of a walk, but i'm not expecting it to be too far or exciting and who knows, i might even get some words on a page too. What i have done is put up the penultimate part of Gaby - Balancing Trick for your delectation and delight, Chapter 39 is not exciting, a little sad, well lot sad really but still has Gaby moments - enjoy.
So there we go, i will be back midweek with hopefully some better writing news and who knows where my wheels will take me, but for now,
Wiedersehn,
Madeline Anafrid
