back to Brizz!

The back end of the week has been - well, interesting. Thursday became a writing day, another chapter was completed, things are looking good.

Friday's forecast was a bit mixed so rather than set out on some huge ride, i decided on something more local, a visit to Dyrham Park, a National Trust property nestled into the Cotswold Edge a few km north of Bath. And so that's what i did, rode all of 14km to get there then spent a couple of hours exploring the deer park and gardens before getting a pot of tea. I took a longer loop back via some good 'gravel' trails and a fairly beat up bit of Fosse Way, got caught in a hail storm (a handy bus shelter saved me from the worst) to make my days riding total a little under 60km.

Saturday, well a short walk then it was to the kb again to complete a second chapter in three days - i'm on a baguette! Of course the new chapters are both up on my Patreon page - be there or, well don't be.

Which brings us to today. I got a bit of a bee in my bonnet yesterday about riding more gravel in North East Somerset so i put together a 100km route with lots of new gravel and with close on 70km of 'off road' riding. The day was fun but tiring, a well made trail is one thing but a lot of todays riding was on rutted mud/grass, loose stone and quite greasy dirt. Two unplanned dismounts kept things interesting, a sideways slip on greasy mud was an off waiting to happen, the other was almost a repeat of an off i had @ 4 years ago on Foxy, steep uneven surface came to a halt but bike wanted to keep going, nothing i tried in those few seconds worked - result, some interesting gymnastics as the bike piroueted on the front wheel, full 180 with a messy dismount. On the plus side i avoided injury and mud both times so i count that a win!

It was a good day but six hours plus riding is hard work, maybe i'd put as bit much of the interesting stuff into the route.

It's Sunday, it's May, there's more May Queen for you to read here!

I wonder what this week will bring?

Back midweek, but for now,
Tschussie,
