couple of weeks, some bad, some good!
Firstly, a huge thank you to those who have rescued me both physically and financially, my gratitude knows no bounds (well metaphorically at least), i would literally not be where i am now without your help.
So, lets have a quick recap for those not paying attention. Things went a bit awry on day 5 of my odyssey to GOC, a major parts failure rendered my bike severely disabled, a temporary 'fix' let me complete the primary objective of attending the Yorkshire Cycling Festival but my plans for both the weekend and return to Brizzle had to be abandoned. I left you last week having got car lifted to Sheffield where i was staying with my Bro whilst i organised how to get back to Brizz.
By Friday, the aforementioned benefactors had swung into action, i had funds towards returning the bike to action and transport for me and my bike organised for Monday. I wasn't idle, i had a walk each day, i wasn't really kitted up for anything too adventurous so they were only quite local to where i was staying. I hadn't been expecting to see my kids this trip but my Bro suggested a family trip to the North Yorkshire Moors for Sunday, so we took a picnic, dangled our feet in a burbling beck and enjoyed a near perfect GOC day.
Monday was of course my return south, time to reconnect to my normal life - well ish. The second mini heatwave of the year was already gearing up, i've eschewed putting my emergency back up bike into action in favour of walking each day, that has been enough to keep me ticking over. During my absence, the fruit has ripened so i picked @ 0.5kg each of gooseberries and blackcurrants and probably 5kg of cherries, we will have fruit pies / crumbles / desserts through the summer!
I've also done a more thorough assessment of the bike, i had hoped to not need to replace some bits but the reality is that a bodged repair is no repair at all. Due to my benefactors generosity, i've been able to order most of the replacement parts, the remaining bits are easier to source and i'll wait until next week to sort them out.
The forecast here in the UK is for temperatures to peak tomorrow (Thursday) at @ 37c before dropping through the weekend to more comfortable levels of 18-20c.Which wouldn't be so bad if it dropped overnight but 25c at one in the morning does not allow for comfortable sleeping conditions. As a result i'll be staying on two feet for exercise for a couple more days and any pretention of proper writing is unlikely, i just don't function well in these temperatures.
I have posted the next chapter of May Queen today as i missed last Sunday so read part 8 now. Part 10 will be posted this coming Sunday and return to that slot for the foreseeable.
I think that about wraps things up for now, once again, thanks for all your support either directly or through buying my scribbles, without you all i'm writing for an audience of one!
Until Sunday then,
Tschuss,
Madeline Anafrid
