If it's not one thing...

The Breast Form Store - NEXT TO PERFECT - NOW ON SALE

... it's another!

Thursday i went for a short walk and the final parts to resurrect the bike arrived, yay! After half a century of experience, fitting everything and connecting it all up didn't actually take that long. i turned the pedals, clicked the gear change and, well nothing. It didn't take long to discover the issue, unbeknownst to me, when the rest self destructed it also damaged the internals of the shifter, ripping the cable retainer off the mechanism. Long story short, i'm now waiting for a pair of new shifters, the quickest and cheapest (but still £90!) way to get the bike back on the road.

Bev was going to Wales on Friday so i smuggled the emergency bike aboard and bailed out near Bridgend. It was a nice day, sunny, not too windy, a pleasant 20c, i had a plan and set off. First stop was Ewenny fortified priory then it was on for a slightly longer stop at Ogmore Castle. from there it was along the coast for a bit before a bouncy, laney, route to my 'lunch' stop at Dyffryn Gardens. Which is where i discovered that my bank account had been cleared out by my membership fees for English Heritage and British Cycling! Red face in the cafe but a very kind gesture by the staff meant i still got my scran which is just as well as i still had @ 12km to my rendezvous point with Aunty B.

Saturday had originally been pencilled in for writing but we ended up driving down to Dorsetshire to see Angharad of Bike fame, yes she's fine but currently her creative juices are aimed at projects other than writing.

Which brings us to today. Being the first Sunday of the month, it is of course, Bun Day! With the main bike still off the road, i resorted to the emergency steed once more, the 60km return journey is about as far as it's comfortable as it stands (pedals, saddle and bar arrangement are required to improve things but money.). The day has been nice although the wind has nagged at times, the cake, as usual, brilliant and i enjoyed the day greatly. I have now got my first 1100m towards my July Everest target, i'd like more but bike.

And so this afternoon, the next May Queen chapter is up here, can things get any worse for our Daisy?

Hopefully this week everything will finally turn that corner. The levers should be delivered tomorrow which means that Tuesday i should be able to use the bike in anger again, just over three weeks after the catastrophe. I should be able to finish the 'in progress' Gaby chapter too, i'm aiming to get the next segment, the 8th, out to Kindle in a fortnight at the latest.

So there we are, i'll be back on Wednesday but until then,
Tschussie,
Madeline Anafrid
