well sort of!
Many parts of the UK had their first rainfall since June yesterday/overnight, some places quite a lot, others just a sprinkle but the parched ground has happily drunk deeply all that was delivered. Today we are back to warm and windy conditions but just for a few hours, everything felt a bit fresher!
Monday i went for a shady walk along the river followed by an afternoon at the keyboard, i had to give up in the end due to neighbours banging and drilling which broke my thought train beyond repair.
Tuesday i was back out on the bike a surprisingly hilly (800+m) and long (111km) ride took me first down to Weston super Mare then up to Clevedon for lunch. My usual stop was shut for their summer hols, the alternate purveyor supplied some of the worst chips i can recall eating for a long time - they looked great but were in fact hard, dry and clearly overcooked, even the salt and vinegar did nothing to improve them. I bet they don't get many repeat customers. Having gone out early, i literally got back to the house and the first dampness started!
Today i've been shopping and i've finished that Gaby chapter which is now up over on my Patreon page. Hopefully i'll get more written before next time and i'll definitely have more riding tales before my next post on Sunday.
That's all for today though,
Tschuss,

Rain? What is this thing you are talking about?
We had about 5 minutes of precipitation that hardly wet the path before it evaporated.
There is no sign of any more than the odd drop for the next two weeks (if not more).
Still, I hope to get the bike (motorcycle) through its MOT Tomorrow. Did you achieve your 'Everest' Challenge for July?

No rain here ...
... despite the forecast. Still having difficulty sleeping ... and I can't wear less than I am apart from removing my dentures :)

That said, I’ve been sleeping with no more than knickers pretty much since my Yorkshire adventure in June! It’s feeling more comfortable this week, overnight temps here have at least been below 20c!

Indeed I did!
After the shaky start to the challenge I reached the target 8848m four days and two rides before the end of July. Those two rides pushed the months total to over 10400m so in the end I covered the challenge quite comfortably.
The ‘challenge’ now is to keep the momentum going through the rest of the summer. Whilst my yearly target is 16k kilometres, I’m not gonna reach that, itt would be nice to reach at least 12k by year end which will need a concerted effort getting the miles in. Long, 100km plus rides are more enjoyable in the sun than the rain plus I can sensibly ride the trails which are more fun than pounding tarmac all the time.
Good luck with your MOT, older bikes often need tlc to pass.
