Oh how i miss the purveyors of such delights!
The P&M i refer to isn't confectionery but rather how the back end of the week has developed.
Thursday the weather was okay-ish, a little cooler than i've become used to but dry which suggested a loop eastwards for my ride. The nice thing going this direction is that there are enough roads to mix the route up pretty much every ride even when heading for the same destination. So it was Lacock again, this time using the Trust cafe for a lunch of pasty (i took my Hendos travel size just in case!) and a pot of tea, a nice change to the more usual sandwiches.
There was a stiff headwind for the return, my twiddly route not offering as much relief as i'd've liked. 108km in total at a surprising 23kph average!
Friday was just another day of 'stuff' then the Saturday forecast suggested lots of wet so the planned ride was postponed. In its stead i ended up cooking, a rather fine rhubarb and mango crumble and an equally fine Cottage pie but utilising home grown components, carrots, tomatoes and of course the rhubarb. I finished the day with a couple of hours of photo sorting so i have some chance of locating images in the future!
which brings us to today and the postponed Saturday ride. The forecast suggested mid 20's and a slightly more northerly aspect to that westerly wind so i decided on what was effectively a loop of South Gloucestershire. The poor county has little to offer in the way of scenery, the riding is, well, fairly bleh, the rolling landscape away from the Severn hiding one or two little blips to test the legs, enough to knock the day's average to just over 21kph for the 101km although that was largely due to the extra metres climbed, almost 1000 on the day.
Hopefully the weather will behave this week, i'll be back on Wednesday,
Tschussie,

Your weather sounds decent for now
In SE Wisconsin we expect a high of 16 C at best today, IE 60F or so
And cloudy, ie dreary
As to Pick 'n' Mix.
Is that like trail mix? Typically, a blend of nuts, dried and candied fruits. pretzels, chocolate bits and so forth
We have a grocery chain here with a name similar to Pick 'n' Mix. Just swap Mix for Save
Enjoy the last full day of astronomical summer
The equinox is almost upon us, Sept 22 for most of the northern hemisphere
Assuming you-know-who hasn't changed it to the AMERICAN EQUINOX
Sorry for the political rant. I TRY TO AVOID IT
I thought all-caps was considered rude online

no
'trail mix' isn't a thing here really, pick and mix is specifically sweets (candy) which is self selected and sold by weight or container.
FW Woolworth were famous for their p&m department and latterly Wilko/Wilkinsons filled that slot, both now sadly missing from the high street. Not that i can afford to visit the cinema these days, but some cinemas used to do p&m at highly inflated prices.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Hang on a minute..
You get 'Endos "Travel Size"?
Where in the world could that be purchased? I've heard tell that the famous Sean Bean used to have 'Endos shipped out to him when he was in Hollywood ("Gimme 't Ring Frowdoo" as a classic quote springs to mind) but of course 'e wa Mester Sharpe in the classic nineties series which also featured Alfreton's very own John Tams... "I 'appen to 'ave a contrairy shoulder, on account of a fight with a French 'Ussair. Which I won. By blowing 'is 'ed clear off 'is shoulders"
One of the finest portrayals of a proper North Derbyshire accent.
