the last of 2026!

So you know what i'm doing today!

Its been a solid week, Thursday i rode @ 110km out to Lacock for a change, lol, i say around, Strava managed to not record a chunk of my ride but i still had over 100km showing. Friday i cracked on with the writing and finished the next Gaby instalment, up on Patreon for those that do. Knowing i'd be out again today, yesterday i did a 65km loop via Bath on what started as a cool misty morning and ebded up quite warm and sunny - todays forecast is similar.

I promised a conclusion of the Berlin trip today so here goes. Tuesday was to be the last full day in the German capital, in Germany full stop, after some full days it was time to be more relaxed. First stop was a trip to Kopernick out to the south, breakfast then a thirty minute train ride landed us in the small satellite town. We were hoping to visit the schloss but it was closed so after a cup of coffee we decided to move on.

My Bro had an idea so we headed out to the Messe where we grabbed a snack before catching the historic 218 bus service to Wannsee - its a regular route but some journeys are run with historic buses. Our example dated from the 1980's and let us ride through the Grunewald off the usual tourist trail. Then it was back into the centre for a last fling through the central tourist zone before ending up back in the Nikolaivertal, the historic heart of Berlin, for dinner. I'd bee eyeing it up on menus all week, i finally got to have the veal liver and it was perfection on a plate!

The last Berlin dinner!

Our return flight was late morning on Wednesday, we departed the hotel before eight to catch the S9 for the 45 minute journey on a bright sunny morning. Plenty of time in theory and so it turned out. Case dropped off we went straight through security before a sort of breakfast as we waited for our gate. Then it was through immigration, despite having done all the EES stuff on the way in i had to repeat it on the way out - so much for a working system! We had time to relax before the flight which ended up being a bit late due to a groundside issue with a passenger on the inbound flight.

We arrived back in Manchester close to on time, the longest delay was waiting for our bag then, after a visit to Greggs, it was the long walk to the railway station. We got back to the flat in Sheffield before five, tired but happy to have had a clear run home. So there we are, until next year my travels are just about over.

That's itl for today,
Ciao,
Madeline Anafrid
