Those four words sum up this chapter for me. Rebecca and the rest of the Angels understand what they are really fighting, the spread of the virus. "But for the grace of God..." as the saying goes; they know all too well that Jason could have been any one of them.

Yup.
I was right, chaos abounds right now. Sometimes I really hate being right. On the other hand, the Angel squad is back together and in more strength than they ever have been, with soldiers who know what they're doing armored quite well against the demons. And armed. This is going to be a real donnybrook, isn't it?
Now they have to protect Dr. Merrit, too. Who would have thought that in the earlier chapters?
I get the feeling that the next chapter is going to be really exciting.

They have Colonel Roberts and Hannah to protect too. I'm sure that they've already been given the vaccine, along with the rest of their backup, but that only protects them from infection, not, um, well, dismemberment and such. I imagine that the colonel knows how to handle himself in a fight, but from all previous indications Hannah is an administrative aide. And, of course, you're right about 'Uncle Gavin,' who probably hasn't received the vaccine; it's a credit to Morpheus' storytelling skill that we're now concerned about a character we would have gladly seen meet a bad end a few chapters ago.

I really hope they record
I really hope they record what they do. Otherwise the general and his senator buddy might claim "they" released the demon queen. These people are ice cold megalomaniacs. I trust them to do about everything right now.

Would you want to be the one holding the camera or recording device as the demons came after you? Would you tell them you were a reporter and hoped they believed in freedom of the press? But then after it's all done the General would confiscate the items.
Got me thinking what someone else said. Alter the vaccine and have both the General and Senator changed to girls. Screaming little girls with vivid imaginations placed in a foster care system.
Ah well there's one imagination starting to run wild.

... however with the fact that Military top brass has the digital recordings made by Dr. Yavich and what was left from the main sever at the original research lab, Oh not forgrtting that the media is likely to have them aswell by now, and the fact that Lawrence refused a direct order to be taken into custody from SecDef his protestations and accusations won't hold much water.

I was thinking that too. At the very least the Senator and General would claim that the Angels were the cause of the breakout. That's why I wouldn't give them the benefit of a doubt. Whoops, they got shot in the back. It was an accident due to all the excitement. Unfortunately if I had to make a guess, those two were running with their tails between their legs for the nearest way out the second the alarm sounded.

Really great chapter - why do I get the feeling the Senator and General have an escape planned? But even if they do escape I suspect at least one of the two will have been infected by this, . ...
