One born of Bat, one born of Wolf...wait, oops wrong story... lol
Amusing :)
What a little shrew :)
Scrimmage in soccer? I lost you here ...
Scrimmager?
Is that the wrong term?
I am afraid that it is the wrong term
There is no position as scrimmager in soccer.
In soccer you have three broad positions - forwards, midfielders and defenders. Split into right, centre, left.
Plus some more specific and/or historical terms - a winger is a forward playing on the flanks, while a striker is a forward who plays in the centre.
Midfielders are simply right, left, centre, plus attacking or defensive. ML, MC, MR, plus AMC and DMC.
Defenders are right-back or left-back, plus central defenders or centre backs. There also may be a sweeper/libero - a centre defender which also performs as playmaker - but Tiff seems to lack the brains to be a playmaker. I see her - after body slamming an adversary (that's legal) and gaining the ball - as hoofing it to the nearest midfelder or simply up the pitch. On the other hand, there were players who were quite brilliant on the pitch and yet couldn't string a sentence together when off it ...
Almost invariably centre backs are the tallest and heaviest players. Occasionally centre forwards/strikers are also big and then they get to be called "target men".
I suspect - as I have the barest notion of American football positions - that scrimmager could be some sort of defender. So centre back or DMC (defensive midfielder centre) could be a good spot for Tiff. A DMC runs about more than a DC (defender cente). Or she could be the target girl, that type of big centre forward who scores by virtue of going shoulder to shoulder with equally large centre-backs of the opposition. In the grown up male game we are talking at least six feet, if not 6'3", and 180-200 lbs. No idea what that'd translate to female juniors ...
OK - I ran off with my mouth here :)
BTW - one of the best games of socccer I've watched ever was the 2011 USA-Japan world cup final where Japan won on penalties after a 2:2 draw in extratime. An excellent example of how the smaller sized team outran and outplayed the bigger guys. Abby Wambach, the US target woman, did not even have to jump for high balls as she was a head taller than the Japanese DCs.
I admit that the Japanese had some luck too :)
Thanks
I knew that the term sounded wrong and I couldn't think of the right one. I'll change it to reflect one of the ones you mentioned above :)
No problem
I'm happy to pass on some of my useless stock of football/soccer knowledge :)
As I'm not sure if "target man/woman" is used in the US, "big centre forward/striker" should do :)
hmm
a trans girl and a trans guy as twins.
interesting. :p
Stupidity is a capital offense. A summary not indictable.
Possibly?
Not sure yet lol.
I thought chapter 1 was great,
I thought chapter 1 was great, but this one left me laughing! But where is Title IX?
Title IX
Where would the fun be?
School boards try to skate
School boards try to skate around Title IX all the time.
I bet that if challenged, they'd claim that they had to spend the "matching" funds for girl's soccer to pay off the lawsuit.
I'm getting really curious about the differences between the two. almost as if they *both* have messed up hormones. and possibly other things.

Hormone thing?
Um... not with Jess. Jordan, maybe.
Rigorous physical activity, such as intense practices, can actually delay puberty in girls. It's been shown many times that many female athletes don't experience much feminization if they are heavily involved in physical activities. Breasts don't really grow. Contours don't really form. Natural bioluminescence of the skin is even suppressed. As a reference, look at some of the Olympic gymnasts, competitive ballerinas, or even NCAA participants. You see them after they win metals, championships, or graduate college (professional female teams are few and far between) and they've taken a break from the sport... BAM! Puberty fairy hits like a sack of bricks.
[ Case in point: McKayla Maroney, 16, at the 2012 Olympics in London -- http://img.wennermedia.com/620-width/mckayla-maroney-olympic... :: 19, in 2015 from her deleted Instagram account -- http://images.enstarz.com/data/images/full/101179/mckayla-ma... ]
I think Jess' issue is more the "middle child syndrome". Tracy was an accomplished musician (making Mom happy) and enrolled in Pre-Med (which makes Dad happy). Jordan is the best musician of the family and has the golden voice. Pretty sure Jess is just feeling more than a little overlooked with those two around. Also: there's the factor of "Why is my brother more like a girl than me?! I got the vagina!"
Ahhhhhh
I feel this story is going to be ...erm.....interesting. Crikeys, strewth mate talk about Jess being a class A bitch.
Joanna
Jess the Bitch
She was so much fun to write though lol.
Can't wait ...
Oh this is going to blow up in the funnest way.
Comedy of Errors
This is Twelfth Night meets The Comedy of Errors lol
She's The Man
Without the more obvious use of character and school names?
Looks great so far.
Jorey
.
Exactly
its funny because I didn't even think of that movie until I was halfway through writing what I've written so far lol. That movie by the way was based off of Twelfth Night :).
She sounds really jealous and defensive
And a bitch.
Of course, that boys coach sounds bad. Sounds like a confrontation in the making.
Jealous
There is definitely some jealousy going on :)
It just keeps getting better !
This is beautiful, brother and sister look-a-likes the sister is a tomboy, the brother is kinda sissy. Brother looks and sings like Taylor Swift, Sister bends it like Beckham
If the School Board thinks Molly's suit is a big deal, wait until the Title IX non-compliance suit.
Karen
Bro and Sis
They're a tiny bit based on the twins from Baka and Test. A very tiny bit in that the brother is kinda a trap lol.
The Girl Is Rough!
I hope Jess is having a really bad day. Because, if this is indicative of her usual attitude, she's two ticks from becoming a juvenile delinquent. I'm half expecting her to take up heavy drinking, start robbing gas stations and mugging old ladies soon.
Jess
Jess is Jess. I've met girls like her. I think they just have a bad day every day or something.
Well ...
... so far it's not that bad.
But you're really going to have to give us some MORE. Um ... You know, so we can be sure. Yeah, that's it - so we can be sure.
T
More?
Sorry the whole story just exploded right....yeah, that and wild monkeys.
major bitch
I actually like the Jess personality. She may be a major bitch, but primarily she is a teenager. Her personality is a little (maybe very) rough and a trifle egotistic. Bit so far I don't see malicious. She presents a good counterpart to her bother.
Jordan is another teenager with his own personality and problems.
I expect the story will continue to exploit there differences. It can do this without resorting to the typical TG story solution. Instead it can deal with the ambiguities of teenage development.
DJ
Differences
They are very different from one another. I hope to convey that as the story goes along. Now we've gotten a taste of both of them, we shall see how things go from here :)
Jessie seems like she can be
Jessie seems like she can be a real bitch to everyone and anyone she deals with. I am wondering now how the boys team coach will react when Title IX is dropped in his lap. If he came unglued working with very small children of both sexes when he coached a mixed team for the city parks program, he will really "have a cow" when that happens at the school. Too bad, he seems like one who needs a little "soul searching" right about now.
This entire chapter was actually funny, just based on Jessie's various comments, she does indeed have a major attitude issue.
The Coach's Reaction
We'll get some of it Jess's next chapter---ch. 4 :)
Love it!
I can't decide how I would like this to go. So lay on McDuff.
Portia
How it's going
I'm still trying to figure out parts of it too. There is places I can go and places I want to avoid. So it will be fun to see exactly where it ends up :)
Excuse me for going against
Excuse me for going against the tide here but I don't think that she is actually a bitch, I think she is a typical teenage girl. She is vain, hormonal, rash, and looks down on those who are in charge. It's typical teenage girl behavior and feelings. She is a tad conceited but not that far off to me to be a bitch.
She does care about Jordan, she just doesn't know how to express it right.
I'm told STFU more times in a day than most people get told in a lifetime
Teen Girl
Its funny because I was talking to my aunt about it and she said "yep, sounds like a teen girl to me" lol.
What can I say, I know from
What can I say, I know from experience! My niece is the spitting image of Jess in most ways...thankfully Jess doesn't have her obsession with Youtube videos ;)
I'm told STFU more times in a day than most people get told in a lifetime
dynamic tension
I am really enjoying the interpersonal dynamics of this twin situation.
May I have some more, please?
Twins
I know twins well. My little brother and sister are twins lol.
Soccer Tryouts
Looks like "Jordan" (wink, wink) may try out for boys' soccer?
Maybe ;)
Its a possibility lol.
It's more of a twin THINGS
Lots of hints and foreshadowing. Lots of different directions this could go, all of them interesting in their own way. We can't wait to see where you take us this time.
Thanks for sharing, again.
Hints
I will admit when I first wrote this story I had a pretty good idea where to take Jordan but not Jess. Then I thought, why not do something with soccer :). I mean it worked well for me before, you know with that "girl from Prescott" :).
Hmmm....interesting
JC and JD might have been accidently switched at birth. No, not by different family, but the doctor might have said JC was a boy and JD a girl, but JC might be a girl and JD a boy.
TGSine --958
Interesting Theory
That's a really good theory :)
its a boy/girl thing?
so we have a girl who could easily pass as a boy, a boy who could easily pass as a girl.
What a pickle !
Fun though
Its been really fun to write. I'm glad I'm finally getting to share it :)
COULD THEY HAVE BEEN BORN THE WRONG GENDER
I agree with the comment before mine! Maybe Jess will pretend to be Jordan and visa versa? Wow can't wait for the next chapter! I love this story because it has a touch of naughtiness to it something that we have encountered or dreamed about! Love you all! Tash
The Pretend Game
Maybe they'll start it back up again?
Don't see how Jordan would benefit honestly
He is a good kid, a polar opposite as has been noted.
Jess could ruin his reputation in getting what she wants.
Reminds me of that scene from Red Dwarf:
'With due respect sir, what's in it for the cat?'
Thank you
I just wanted to let you know how much I'm enjoying this story and enjoyed "It's Just a Skirt." They're both populated by entirely believable characters and the dialogue is fast moving and clever. I look forward every Monday for the next installment.
Thanks,
Miss Jessica
Thanks :)
Thanks for reading and I'm glad you're enjoying it :)
Not at all what I expected.
This is getting very interesting.
Gillian Cairns
The Unexpected
I thrive at the unexpected lol.
Wow.
She has some serious attitude and self-centred shit going on.
The chapter is well written, and i did not like reading her story at all :o
Not because it was bad but just... it's such antithetical to the way i try and treat people.
Anyway, good chapter.
My prediction is that there's a bit of trading on her brother's name to get into the boys' team but I'll wait and see
Xx

Jess's Behavior
The fact that you didn't like her makes me feel happy. I was able to convey what I needed then :)
I kind of feel sorry for Jess
She is I think jealous of Jordan.
She is the girl, but he looks like her and has the sweet singing girls voice she should have. It's as if her twin has somehow stolen it from her.
Maybe she wanted to play the guitar as well, but guess who got given older sisters prize guitar; SuperGirlyBoy guitar player. Not her. When she found she could do sports, she tried to get her brother to share it with her, but he wasn't interested.
She knows her mother being a singer favours her brothers talent over her sporting prowess, and her brother (in her view) even seems to have taken her place in the mother/daughter relationship she should have with her mother.
I think that is what makes her the girl she is. it is her way of pushing back against the indignation and maybe hurt of always seeming to be second best to her brother all the time in her eyes of her mum. At least, that's how Jess may see it.
As for Jordan, I wonder if mum has introduced Torrie to the band to as a sneaky way to get him to sing if Torrie asks him to sing a duet with her!!
As a rule I don't like the format of swapping characters every chapter, but here it seems to work.
Oh well, just my pennies worth. Thanks EOF for this intriguing story.
Sophie
Wow :)
I think you just nailed Jess to a tee. You have pegged her personality perfectly.
Twins
I have to admit I was seeing her playing soccer with his name and him singing with her name but I'm not sure anybody who knows them would believe it, names no problem but it sounds like it would need a personality transplant. On the other hand if it's close friends pushing it it would work. I like the alternate pics I'm just going to hate waiting so long for the next episode but that is true with any serial. I wait with anticipation for what's coming next.
Time is the longest distance to your destination.
Friends
There are some really great friends in this story. With Jess we've only seen Tiff right now but I plan to add a few more because I feel like I cheated her on the friends side of things lol.
Needs to get a life?
Did Jess sit on a corn cob wrong, or forgot to take her medication? Girl has serious self esteem problems.
Instead of looking at the things she does well, she's pissed because she can't do what others do. Boo hoo, as if she is supposed to have every talent on the planet.
At some point, she is going to be in some kind of a snit and someone is going to tell her how the cow ate the cabbage. When that happens, Tom Thumb will appear to be a giant to her. And she'll have deserved it.
Others have feelings too.
You've got plenty of replies?
You've got plenty of replies?? : ) Enjoying how this is
developing....Think were going to see a couple conflicts
developing and sorry.but lil sis is going to outshine soon!

Jelous much
I think JUST a tad bit & I think Jess is also scared of Torrie as she's good looking & she upset about girls soccer being cancled. I can see some redeming quilities in her but she REALLY needs to get over her self. Maybe Jordan can he but not right now Jess is in too big of a mood but I think MOM could get to the bottom of it if she tried. Jess I think is a good kid but... jealousy is the big thing the need to find SOMETHING in common besides just looks. Something BOTH are equally good at to bring them together.
Love Samantha Renée Heart.
"comments are life blood"
In that case, you must be over dosing from this story. Just out of curiosity I started counting the comments, barring yours, but got bored after 20 or so.
These characters are definitely believable. And I can identify with them. Thank you.
Unfortunately
I'm sure there will be important stuff in the Jess chapters, so i'll have to read them
Ewww
nut jobs
Fun story and I do like the split perspective. That said, you had me a "nut job" a while back .... still get a chuckle out of the description and this time enough to do a gargle search on the origins. I mean, the "nut" part is fairly clear but the part that makes it chuckle-worthy over here is the "job" part. Funny how the reference typically is used with right wing (read "conservative") stuff like guns, religion, etc. and "wacked-out" attitudes in general. Am sure there are some far-left ideologues' that would fit the mold as well I just haven't run into any that are quite as funny to read about ... Clearly may not funny on the receiving end.
