Good moves by Robbie. Two
Good moves by Robbie. Two new female drivers for Mercedes-Benz and company; and two mixed male-female pit crews. THAT would most likely be a first or nearly a first in the racing industry and perhaps show other companies what they have been missing when looking for their own pit crews. Great story, and I do look forward to reading more of it.
Racing Angles
I'm glad to see that Robby is looking ahead to find his/her pit crew and has decided to include people he knows. It will be a good way to start a team. There will be a lot of training for the pit crew before the first race but practice makes perfect. As for the old bitch at school, Robby will probably get expelled as soon as she finds out he is transgender and will try to get the two teams to go after him to prove her point. I hope she gets hers in the end.
I’ll show you exactly how little I care about what people think
giggles. good. he? she? is going to need all the help she ? he? can get ...
Billy's Big Barn Pizza
Is this the same establishment that was visited by some black badge marshals? If so, does this occur after that event, and might we see Kendra and her friends on the pit crew?
You forgot that Kendra and friends
You forgot that Kendra and friends would also mean presence of US Marshalls and/or instructors (special ops) as security.
Billy's Big Barn Pizza is
Billy's Big Barn Pizza is based an a small chain of pizzerias in South Carolina. While not found outside of the State there are numerous resturants through out all of S.C. They make one hell of a garbage pizza. The chain is called Sammy's.

I see a lot of people going to college that would have never had
Real World experience will help they'll probably end up doing better in college than they would have if they had just went straight to college after school. Still enjoying the story.
Lawsuit
How the hell wasn't the school sued for dispelling two students for being a biracial couple. I know that in the States LGBT rights are non-existent depending on the State, plus the massive corruption from highschool sport teams. Even covert racism is something a lot of people get away with, but this kind of blatant racism, you need a bit more than a money bringing coach to get away with that.
Also very well aware of the stupidity of the bigots seeing an FtM when it's just messed up natural hormones. Wish I had the courage to actually confront them and ask them what their precious bible / source of bigotry actually expected me to do. As far as I was aware I was doing my hardest to be the male "god made me to be", but apparantly that was either not good enough, or I shouldn't try to rise above my station as a female, just fuck those types.
I never said that they were expelled for being biracial couple.
I only said that Carson used her position as the Head School Consular to have a biracial couple expelled not because they were biracial. As I said in the story Carson used bullying, minor infractions of the rules, and every other dirty under handed trick to drive out those she sees as being unfit to attend her school.

Something that is quite easy to do
And unfortunately happens too often in real life. I remember a girl I worked with, now I'll admit she wasn't very good at the job. She was also caught running personal errands during working hours (We travel between 34 various buildings in the city during the day depending on what needs to be done) but instead of firing her for the problems, they began placing more and more restrictions on her while documenting every minuscule infraction and forcing her to document her time spent working down to the minute, until she was so fed up she quit.
We the willing, led by the unsure. Have been doing so much with so little for so long,
We are now qualified to do anything with nothing.
Great story
First I love the story. However a formula 1 team is the top of the racing hierarchy. Robbie would never be allowed to form his own pit crew with Mercedes Benz. The reality would be he could add a few people that had proven experience the rest would be from Mercedes. Even with the hiring of the family team, the pit crew for F1 needs to be top shelf with years of experience. Just like drivers they start in the lesser leagues. However, this being fiction, I'm willing to suspend reality to see what happens. Again love it so far. Thanks for writing it.
there are a few misconceptions in your posting
While Formula 1 is one of the top fields of auto racing it is not the TOP for ALL auto racing. Examples of this are the Monster Energy for series for NASCAR. Top Full Dragsters for the NAHRA. Just to name a few. As for drivers having to start in 'lesser leagues' this does not always happen. While it is the normal course of events there are far too many examples of drivers starting off in the 'big leagues' to be ignored. Case in point the youngest driver to start a formula 1 race was Max Verstappen in the 2015 Australian Grand Prix at 17 years. A young man with zero racing experience until 2015 on a F1 track. As for picking pit crews that is left to the individual teams. Sponsors Like Mercedes, Audi, Toyota, Ford, Chevy, and other car manufacturers have little or no input. The reason behind this is simple. Team Work. While a good deal of money is at play the Sponsors want the best chance at winning or placing favorably. So they leave that very important detail to the teams to sort out for themselves. That is way more and more racing teams are scowering the colleges and even some high schools for athletes to fill out their pits.

Additionally
The Execs weren't there to see Robby run the car, they were there to see Tommy run it, but were treated to viewing of a record breaking run. I don't know how the execs at big companies like Benz do, but If I'm watching someone break records, and have a chance to snap them up for my team, that's exactly what I will do, whether they are established or not in the sport.
Crews need to follow the
Crews need to follow the orders of the crew chief and crew chief alone for a couple of very good reasons. Being fastest, most athletic, top in their specialty doesn't matter if they don't listen and either get hurt or worse- harm their team by losing time and points. You proved it with her knowledge of the sport on all levels that she wouldn't mention it if it wasn't important.
Teams have been damaged by the actions of their crews, especially disgruntled people who can't hold their tempers in check or can't follow the orders of their crew chief. Plus I can understand why they'd want to have people that they know and trust working with her...the bigotry from ignorant idiots plus arrogance from the Formula 1 crew members who tend to down upon non-Formula 1 drivers regardless of ability would be an issue. Plus, the ever present sabotage and cheating that some of the builders will resort to to win...that incident in 1994 was a direct result of cheating and nearly cost multiple people their lives.

This story started out great and is getting better.
There are not many authors out there who can do this as consistently as WolfJess7 can. Thank you.
Loving this story!!
Jess,
You do such a great job in telling a tale and as I am an avid fan of auto racing, I have a particular fondness for Robbie's story! I'm loving how your transgender tale is based on a close-knit group of family and friends who have dealt with adversity (Robbie's cancer) continue to deal with it (all the closed-minded haters due to the outcome of his cancer treatment) and have overcome it (Robbie's resolve to overcome her situation and success she achieves due to her skills as well as the talents of her mom and dad). Great story, can't wait to read more! Kudos hon!
Steph
Thank you for your kind words.
Your praise is greatly welcomed. I am nothing but a humble words smith plying her trade here at BC. Just one of many great authors. When I first started writing this story I needed to look at all the possible points of view. I wanted a story that was both real world possible and fictional at the same time. I need a reason for Robbie to shine. Despite having certain advantages. Her personal life struggle seemed to be the prefect backdrop for a High-speed Drama story line.

Acceptance and lessons need taught
Rob appears to finally have accepted the inevitable changes which are occurring to him because of the experimental drugs which saved his life. S/he, is after all, going to agree to race as Roberta, and have the pit crew s/he wants. S/he is right, they are over the barrel and will have to agree with her decisions or not get what they want.
Are there that many parents like that principle who allow such behavior from students and staff? Two coaches and one principle need canned yesterday, last week, two years ago. And the players on the wrestling and basketball teams need a month long vacation at their own expense.
Or bring in a few ringers as substitute teachers who have no problem explaining things like, they may think they're tough but someone is always tougher.
As for the head arse, State Board of Education might be able to help correct the leadership problem, unless they are on head arses' side.
This chapter really reached me emotionally, which means it's some good story. Seeing Robby get a raw deal both with the cancer then turning more feminine, then having to race as a girl, pulled on my how totally unfair that he really didn't have any say in the matter. He is alive, yes that's true. But how much more of his life will be decided without input from him or his being able to make the choices?
Others have feelings too.
Born Again Christians
Jess, I love the story, but just want to say that not all Born Again Christians are as bad as you make them out to be. Most are very caring and stand up type people. It is too bad that it seems like you are lumping all these good people into the bad guy or girl group.

So under rated!
Aww!
Kelly's attitude at the end there :)
I guess his parents' talk finally got through to him that much as he'd ideally like to present as male, the anti-leukemia drugs and his biochemistry have had other ideas. While theoretically it may be possible to get a haircut, double masectomy and testosterone injections, they'd kill the deal (and likely any future racing career), while convincing the public that he was a boy, just with unusual biochemistry, while looking to all extents and purposes as a girl would be virtually impossible. So he's really got no option but to "come out" and let the world think of him as a girl.
That being done, his pit crew idea was genius - the need for pit crews also provides an opportunity for many fellow students at school to overcome its deficiencies in providing a solid foundation for future study.
