"Lately it occurs to me..
what a long strange trip its been."
That shouldn't be that way
Get ahold of your surgeon. Something isn't right.
Something's not right
Get in contact with your ophthalmologist. I had both eyes done two weeks apart. In both cases I walked out of the building seeing better than when I went in.
They warned me that I may see some flickering around the edges, and I did, but it was easily ignored and only lasted a couple of days. I ended up with 20/25 in my left eye and 20/30 in my right eye. Good enough that I didn't need glasses to drive any more. I do still need glasses to read fine print or poor contrast. But other than that, I do without glasses.
I've heard that most people need reading glasses after. It may be that you just need glasses. If I were you, I'd make two appointments. First with my ophthalmologist and then after that with and optometrist for new glasses.

Cataract surgery
I had my eyes done this last summer and I can drive without glasses now. I have minor corrections for distance, but I used to have very near sight. Now it's reading glasses for anything near. If it's all blurry it's definitely time to talk to your eye doctors about it.
Time is the longest distance to your destination.
I hope all goes well
with your eyes, sight is so precious.

Contact your eye doctor to be safe
If there is a problem, they will refer you
Could just be you need readers only.
That is what my late father and my sister needed.
And they were very nearsighted.
The artificial lens fixed that for normal and distance.
Complications do occur but are not terribly common.
Best to see your doc if only for peace of mind

Not Good
I am so sorry for your trouble. This sounds like the new lens has slipped out of position. Get back to the surgeon quickly. My cataract surgeries were a breeze with no problems and perfect sight immediately afterwards. May you get this corrected quickly. We certainly would hate for one of the best authors here have such vision problems.

Post op cataract surgery
One eye at a time. (A month apart.) both times blurry 2 days and then clear. Eye drops were a pain to take. Clear sight after but needed new glasses and still have to have them to drive. Please see your surgeon or MD opthomologist immediately.

Worry
Dear Bronwen,
Lucy and Charlotte were very worried about you and enlisted my help. I wasn't much use but did allay some of their concerns about cataract surgery.
In my own case I was offered the choice between distance and reading. I opted for distance so that I could drive without glasses and use specs for reading and writing. I believe you only have one working eye and I don't know what you chose. The actual surgery is quick and painless as I'm sure you can attest.
In a follow-up session I suffered excess pressure in one eye but the ophthalmologist prescribed additional drops and another check about two weeks later. By then everything was back to better-than-normal. I hope yours proves to be similar. I assume you had your procedure done in Melbourne and I reckon you would have got the best of care.
Still, we're all happy that you're still with us,
Love,
Joanne
I had my cataract operation ...
... on my left eye a couple of years ago with a few minor problems but nothing serious. After I face planted on my ATB back in 1991 my left eye doesn't fully open so that made the operation difficult. You certainly shouldn't be having problems for so long. My eyes are fine for driving as well as flying radio control model aeroplanes, which isn't bad for 85.
You should go back to your optician (you'll need new glasses anyway) and/or where you got the operation carried out. I know several people who've had cataracts done and none have had problems. Mine was done on the NHS just a few weeks after the need was diagnosed.
Hope you get it sorted quickly
Cataracts
I had my left eye done then my right a month later. I had great vision in left, l ss good in right. My left eye is dominant and always had weaker vision than the right. I had reservations because my vision has al ays been so poor.i chose no correction surgery just cataract removal. I didn't trust them to laser away on the pack of my eye and mess it up. I have worn glasses or contacts since very young.
My left eye had pa vast improvement. My right less so. New glasses did not feel right, and pare about useless. Now a year plus later, my good left eye has deteriorated badly, and my right is useless.
Cataract Surgery
I had both eyes done, about a month apart at the Veterans Hospital, here in Portland, Oregon, USA. I see clearly out to arms length. After that I use glasses with progressive lenses.
I hope that things get better.
Gwen
Hope it resolves soon
Cataract surgery can be tricky. Mine went pretty smoothly. I forget if I was seeing completely clearly at 2 weeks though.
A friend though has a problem with one eye. I think it needed further surgery.
All the best!

After I had mine done twenty
After I had mine done twenty five years ago I had problems because the lens sac went cloudy. A quick outpatient procedure with a laser cleared the problem.
I understand that there are other ways of fitting a new lens, so this may not be the problem, but do go back and see what they can offer.
