Not hiding, just not well in multiple ways, which has required two hospital stays and forced full retirement on me. Heart and kidneys are the knowns; thyroid has just been ruled out, and next month they are going to check my liver, deep joy.
Just no energy.

So Happy
To hear from you. Not so happy about the health news, but at least you're still with us. Don't go dark, please.
I'll echo that
I recall you saying that the health issues are stacking up, and they don't sound good.
I really hope that the tests turn up something that they can build a treatment plan around. I'm guessing that your fitness from all the cycling ( wasn't it the West Australian RFO and coast?) must have been some help to your body in fighting the problems.

what a long strange trip its been."
Getting older
I feel your angst! As we survive the aging process, certain things happen! These things are rarely enjoyable -- see bladder failure, neurological issues, hard impacts with objects such as floors, brick hearths, roadways, etc. And then there are the rides in the back of the ambulance while strapped to a long board wearing a neck collar to immobilize your c-spine! X-rays are not bad and neither are CT scans nor ultrasounds! MRIs however are debilitating and horrendous (unless they do them while you are unconscious). However, as long as you/we can write about them, we are alive and moving forward! Keep on smiling!

Update
I have started partial recovery. I remain in early stages of heart failure, but that is being treated with decent drugs. I had real issues over the New Year as my body bloated with fluid, not just held in my tissues but also in body cavities. That has been dealt with using some very powerful diuretics, and in the first fortnight I lost no less than 24kg in bodyweight. Suddenly, I can breathe again.
My liver is fine, but the other drugs and extras have pushed me into early type 2 diabetes. There are kidney worries, too.
In other news, for those who followed me on Facebook, I have now had my account deleted by admin for 'breaching community standards", which seems to consist of my posting 'laugh' emojis whenever I got one of the increasingly desperate "Please buy one of our holidays to El Salvador, er, we mean Florida/Texas/etc". Amusingly. almost every such advertiser has disabled the comment/reply function, due to the scorn posted there.
So Happy
Just to hear from you and delighted that you are recovering. I know all about fluid retention too!
More
Back in hospital, for last four weeks.
...less
Finally out of hospital, a six-week stay this time. Time to kick start my writing again.
So that's a total of nine weeks in hospital in the last ten months, including three ambulance rides, a home visit by my GP, regular blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, echo-sono-cardiograms, all medication during and after my stay, and provision of walking frame, bathroom adaptations and three meals a day. The cost?
Nothing.
