Henry and David had been friends since high school. The two engaged in various activities together, including playing sports, pursuing the same women, and indulging in considerable drinking. Both men had married well; Henry was wed to Ellen, a career-oriented woman, while David was married to Linda, who hailed from a wealthy background. Together, Henry and David operated an investment firm that thrived throughout the 2030s, until the significant crash of 2036. Although both men lost millions, they were fortunate to be in a better position than many of their investors, who found themselves financially devastated. The crash prompted Henry and David to reflect on their circumstances, leading them into a period of depression. This situation resulted in numerous disputes between Henry and Ellen. Linda had been prudent, refraining from investing her money in her husband's questionable ventures.
Ellen grew increasingly frustrated with Henry's lack of initiative following the crash. He spent his days playing video games online with David, and upon Ellen's return home, the house was often in disarray. This prompted Ellen to threaten to evict Henry if he did not begin contributing more to household responsibilities. One day, she presented Henry with a package; upon opening it, he discovered a frilly apron inside. Confused, Henry watched as Ellen laughed and tied the apron around his waist. Anger welled up in him as Ellen explained that, since she was the , it breadwinner it was only fitting for him to take on the role of the 'happy housewife.' Henry was not amused, and once Ellen left, he removed the apron and returned to his video games. After about an hour, the game malfunctioned, and the internet connection was lost. Frustrated, Henry attempted to reset the router when he received a phone call from Ellen. She cheerfully informed him that there would be no more time wasted on video games; he had household chores to complete, and if she was satisfied with his efforts, he would earn the privilege to play video games again. This sparked a significant argument between the couple. When Ellen arrived home, she was pleased to find Henry wearing the apron. Although the house was not up to her standards, it was much cleaner, and the laundry was completed. Ellen sarcastically commended Henry for being a good little housewife.
In the upcoming months, Henry, albeit reluctantly, maintained the cleanliness of the house and managed the laundry. His role as a dutiful house husband granted him ample time to indulge in video games, providing him with a much-needed escape. Similarly, David, Henry's friend, was experiencing a parallel situation at his own residence. His wife, Linda, had restricted his access to her finances, which resulted in David being unable to afford golfing at the prestigious country club. Consequently, he found himself, much like Henry, donning an apron and engaging in household chores. Both men grew increasingly frustrated with their new roles and felt anger towards their wives, who had transformed into demanding and, at times, cruel partners. On several occasions, Linda threatened David with the prospect of making him dress as a French maid and prance around in high heels.
Henry and David were fed up with their roles as "good little housewives." One day, while out drinking, they expressed their frustrations when they unexpectedly encountered Kevin, one of their former investors, who had wisely exited the market before the crash. It had been nearly a year since they last saw Kevin, and they were taken aback when he arrived in a luxurious limousine, accompanied by young women in short skirts. Kevin approached Henry and David, shook their hands, and generously offered to treat them to lunch. He went all out, serving steaks and fine wines, even hiring a few dancers to entertain while the men conversed. Kevin shared with the two men how he had invested in a significant property just before the crash, which had transformed into a haven for men like them. Henry and David were both astonished and eager to learn more. Kevin elaborated on how the world had gone awry following the crash. Many men, including Henry and David, had lost everything, resulting in women gaining control of nearly 60% of the wealth. This shift altered the dynamics between genders, with women ascending to CEO positions and pursuing political roles. Nearly 50% of men now struggled to find employment and, like Henry and David, were compelled to don aprons and embrace the role of "good little housewives" to their ambitious, career driven wives.
Kevin elaborated the operational dynamics within Paradise. Through a employed cutting edge technology he had developed, the women of Paradise were conditioned to be compliant and submissive, thereby stifling any aspirations for careers and redirecting their focus towards their appearance and the desire to satisfy men. Kevin detailed how this technology performed marvels, rendering the women incapable of disobeying the men. He pressed a button, prompting the entrance of two women, his ex-wife Donna and his sister Karen, who entered the room bearing trays of drinks. Both women were adorned in beautiful dresses that flowed over layers of thick petticoats. Their hair and makeup were professionally styled, and they moved gracefully in five-inch heels. Henry and David were taken aback, recalling Donna and Karen as two of the most career-oriented women who proudly always wore pants. After serving the drinks, both women curtsied and smiled. Kevin chuckled, asking if they remembered how assertive these two used to be. Now, they appeared pleasant and submissive. Subsequently, Kevin recited a sequence of numbers, causing his sister Karen to 'wake up.' She surveyed her surroundings and became irate over her attire. As she began to reprimand Kevin, he uttered, 'Love, Honor and Obey,' and like a switch, Karen reverted to a compliant housewife. Kevin proceeded to explain the mechanics of the technology. The most intriguing aspect, as he described, was that their true personalities remained intact, albeit confined within their new domestic roles. The women were fully cognizant of their circumstances yet powerless to resist their obedience.
Henry and David were persuaded, as Kevin clarified that all they needed to do was sign the necessary paperwork to become charter members of Paradise. A few days later, both men received a package in the mail containing instructions to mix the package's contents into their wives' drinks. The next day, Henry and David presented their wives, Ellen and Linda, with a fresh cup of coffee. Without any hesitation, both women joyfully consumed the coffee, and soon after, the room began to spin, causing them to lose consciousness. Kevin, along with a group of men, assisted Henry and David in getting their wives into his limousine, and they departed for Paradise.
