-----------------------------------------------------

Rain tapping on my window
It’s wonderful to hear
Rain splashes on the doorstep
Oh what a mess it truly is!

Tree knocks away my glasses
Rain pours into my eyes
My scream would scare the neighbors
They come and knock on my door.

And if I dare to answer
They’ll hug and comfort me
They know I am transgender
They love me still, just the same.

They say I light the daytime
I am a shooting star
I brighten up the evening hours
Their neighbor really is … a … star!

Footnote:
This is just a simple fun song, but it has a bit of a back story to it.

A couple weeks ago I did a visualization exercise for an online song writing class. And one of the topics was rain. But the previous Friday I had met one of my TG friends for lunch to advise her on filing her name change paperwork. Because she has legal questions concerning a couple misdemeanor charges, another trans girl friend who is a lawyer joined us and they discussed how to resolve those. While the three of us were chatting, another person said, "Hi" to my lawyer friend and asked if she might have seen her in some show!

She appreciated the thought, but explained that she was not in any show. (Albuquerque is an active location for filming television and movies.)

The old song, 'You Oughta Be in Pictures' popped into my mind and I played part of it for them.

So that song with its rhythm and meter was running through my mind as I wrote down some of my responses. After that, it was fairly easy to edit them and add a verse or two to fill out the lyrics.
