I think I was the first one to open this up to read it. :) Very good, sir. I've missed reading these. Christina seems to be learning some more hard lessons. She is an adult now.
The imagery in this one was very vivid, I could almost taste those bridesmaid dresses. :)
An odd thing, when she remembered walking through the ashes of her home at age twelve, my mental image was of Christina as a twelve-year-old, not Chris. And I didn't think of this as odd until I finished reading the chapter.
I wonder how she pictured herself in her memory.
Hugs,
Erin

Eh? Speak up! I can't hear you over the bridesmaids' gowns!
Taste? I not only couldn't taste them, I wouldn't associate them with taste! And they were so loud that even in TEXT I could hear them!
The bridesmaid dresses are graphic
to say the least.
Instead of having them lined up behind Lisa, Lisa should've just left them in a group so she could have a grove of bridesmaids :).
Now, since no body in their right minds would have bridesmaids dresses that would redirect traffic, can we also consider the idea of them errr pulp fiction ?

Puns aside
IMHO, most brides lose whatever sensibility they might have had when planning their weddings. I was going to be a bridesmaid for one friend until she decided we all should have matching hair - COLOR! I, the blonde and the Vietnamese-American girl with the lovely black hair both drew the line at dying our hair chocolate brown to go with her color scheme.

Welcome Back!
..to both you, and to Christina Chase!
I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to pick up the story after the hiatus without rereading at least some of it. That turned out to be a very needless worry. This story is so memorable that it all came flooding back as soon as I opened the first page.
Thanks again for a great story and a wonderful new chapter!

Yes, Christina Has Come Of Age
She has finally put her former self Chris away and in confronting her uncle has asserted hr adulthood. Poor Tina has both won and lost here. I hope that now that Richard is no longer there that Adam proves to be a good match.

Welcome Back
It is very good to see that your back and the latest chapter is a good addition to your continuing story about Christina. Your an excellant writer, keep it up. Looking forward to the continuing chapters.

Oh yeah !
Welcome back :)
Hmmm, my understanding is that this series (book 1 maybe?) will end in eight or nine chapters ?
The way this series is being paced gives me great hope that there is a follow on. There are so many threads going on that it would be imho a bit rushed to even end it all in another 8(?) chapters.
Keep up the great work.
I do wonder about one thing though: What is the inspiration for our favorite flag officer to write this series ?

Weddings are incredibly boring ...
... and not really very important. Marriages, on the other hand, are very important and, hopefully, not boring at all. I zoned out during my wedding and, like Christina, resorted to counting pieces of stained glass; as a result, I missed my future spouse's promising to 'love honour and obey'. We'd only asked the vicar to slip it in as a joke - she was OK with the love and honour but I doubt if the 'obey' bit ever had a chance anyway :) We only married in church because my future mother-in-law attended; neither of us believed a word of it.
Geoff (40 years wed and counting)
6 1/2 pages...
That's how long the "sermon" my father-in-law preeched at our wedding... Neither my spouse nor I have any memory of what he said, but we both counted the pages (they were the 6"x8" pages - not letter sized, lest you be really worried). The rest of the service is really vivid in my memory, including being towered over by most of the wedding party, including my spouse (well not towered there, but I'm shorter).
As to the title... I think being a "replacement bridesmaid" would be an awesome experience! I've attended some weddings where the bridesmaids were there mostly for moral support of the bride (before hand) and did actually stand still. But one service I saw they and the Groomsmen had very important rolls to play in the service. Was quite interesting though I do shudder at the amount of rehersals that probably took.
Fun episode with much growth shown. Many thanks for getting things moving in RL, so you can bring Chris Chase back to us.

Roll On Next Friday
Another great chapter, I am curious though, when is Christina going to take the plunge and have her boy bits changed into girl bits?? I hope she does so soon, then she can experience a proper adult relationship with a man of her dreams. Who knows, maybe Adam?? Or maybe someone totally new will enter the fray and sweep her off her feet.

Can Someone Remind Me Where Adam Came From
I can't recall him. Where did he first appear?
Also, while I'm not sure that Richard deserves Christina, I'd sure like to see Diana "get hers" (so to speak) as she is so nasty. May still happen. We'll see where the Admiral takes it.
So glad that you are feeling better Admiral and that the episodes have started again.
Obscure Character References
Try chapter 31 :D
This is one strategy I use in my brutally bad writing style - introduce people far too early so that you can't remember who they are. For where's Waldo fans, you should go back to the beginning and see how many places you can spot James.
Thanks for the Response
I went looking and found Adam in 38 (Valentine's Day) also. If I'd thought about it a bit and assumed Adam was a townie, I would have looked in 31 and 38 as those chapters are where Christina encounters many of the the town's men (rather than just posting the question).
It's so good to have you posting this story again.
growing up
Its really great to see a return to this series. And this chapter was a strong return. A real strength is in how Chris has to deal with the inherent problems/difficulties in his relationships with two of the male figures in his life, Alek and Richard. Chris has enjoyed between the little girl, or “princess†to both of these guys, but finally realizes that can only go so far in being beneficial. The trick now is to develop adult to adult relationships with both of them. With Alek, I’m pretty confident it will happen – its kind of the normal process families go through with children – Alek seems a little behind in this respect, but I think he can do it – he’s already made the first step.
With Richard, I think its more of an open question. There’s not only the age difference, but also the education/social circle thing. Its not even necessarily Richard’s fault – I’d place it more on just the way things are. Diana may be an extreme in terms of how she treats Chris, but I think Chris would have to come to expect and accept being treated as a subordinate by a lot of the people Richard deals with on a regular basis. Unless Chris can develop some definition of herself as an independent, strong person and make others see her that way, things ain’t gonna work out well. She has done that with Andrei, and their relationship is strong and equal, so it is possible, but the suspense may be in seeing what happens with Richard.
Glad you are back, feeling better, and writing again.
I am delighted
to join the happy band of AK fans who welcome you back to us and sincerely hope that you are fully recovered. You certainly seem to be writing at your usual 110% - this is powerful stuff.
OK, I stand corrected. I was never any good at picking male partners and now accept that Richard is seriously wanting: - Christina definitely deserves better.
On the edge of my seat as usual.

Oh happy day
I'm a BIG Krunch fan and this morning when I saw that name (Christina Chase), it really made my day.
The only bad news is the evil number 52...
I know what I'll do when it's done: go back and read it a second time from the beginning.
Hi Admiral, glad to have you
Hi Admiral, glad to have you back.
Christina's saga was missed by one and all. I do believe that she and Richard will eventually make up once he realizes what a treasure he had. While reading about the Orange dresses for the bridesmaids, I sat there wondering why any bride would subject her friends, who do her the favor of being a bridesmaid, to gross and totally tasteless dresses. Sadly, it happens too often and there should be a bridesmaid rule saying it is very bad manners to even entertain the thought of such wear, let alone require it. Lots of money is spent on dresses and they should ones that can or could be used for another function (not a wedding) at some time.
J-Lynn
Also glad you're back
admiral. Hope you are feeling well and all affairs taken care off. *Although that is practically impossible because there's always something going on or about to* Yet I'm happy to see you were able to restart posting this fantastic story.
Nice to see Chris/tina is growing up and asserting, and I also like how you showed an angle of realising the loss of innocence and shelter for being an adult. Some from the pov of uncle Alek too.
For all Adams' fans, I don't think he's a keeper.
Yes I know Christina has made it clear to Richard about the how and what, and now while Richard is very busy with the legal doings in partnership with Diana, they don't see much of each other. But these proceedings will end, and Richard will go realising what he's missing out on. If not already. I still think he's infatuated with her, and I also believe he's the only one who does really rock her boat. And while I don't want Christina pining for Richard, I also believe no other man will match up to Richard for her, but she'll have to reach to this conclusion by comparison.
And maybe, in the end, she'll still prefer to hook up with another woman. *heh, I like that: 'another'*
Anyway, I'm back to enjoying one of my favourite stories here on BC. Thanks admiral.

Christina's Sulking But Sidney's Smiling
Dear Admiral Krunch,
I was soooo glad to see a new Christina Chase episode when I came onto the site Friday night. You may have been sick for a while, but you sure haven't lost your touch. I enjoy this series so much! In fact, the Christina Chase series is so much fun that I've taken to "storytelling" each episode to my electrologist as she rids me of those nasty hairs. It makes her laugh with joy and makes bearable the exquisite pain she's inflicting on me during each session. Thank you for writing this series (and for the wonderful distraction retelling your episodes provides).
Sidney
A Wonderful Story
I love this story so much. I like the depth of emotion that is played out as Christina deals with the men in her life and how she is being treated by them. I think it would be interesting to see Christina bump into Amy along the way and have them strike up a conversation where Amy doesn't have any idea that she is talking to her ex boyfriend. It would prove to Christina that she is no longer the same person and is moving on with life. I look forward to the next chapters in the story. Thanks again for a wonderful ride.
Hugs,
Jenn
Glad to see you back Krunch
Count me in among those happy to see your return. I have a slightly different take on Mishas' advice to Christina. Maybe it wasn't exactly intended that way it also applies to her decision whether or not to actually become the woman she appears to be. She has waffled back and forth on this and must soon make the final decision and take the necessary steps to resolve things one way or the other. I think we all think we know what that will be but still the situation cannot continue as it is for much longer.
Excuse me, Admiral, Sir?
It seems that so far, in just 48 hours, 20 or so of your 'Three loyal fans', have thought to comment, and nearly a dozen hundred more have looked at it in just 2 days. Somehow, I think that is a mighty big 3.
And like them, I am not only hoping for more than 52 parts, but I do not see how you can end this story satisfactorily in just 8 more parts.
You write 'em, and I'll edit them, Sir.

More Chris
This has been a great series. I look forward to the next chapter. Hopefully soon. You have developed a very interesting character with Chris. Can't wait to see what Chris gets into next.
There Is One Thing That We Are Forgetting About Christina
Christina / Chris is basically confused about who she is. As Chris, he likes girls but as Tina, she like boy. The body is growing more feminine as Tina wears the waste cincher. Her breast forms and gaffe are the only thing that give her any shape at all. So far, I believe that only Misha knows that Tina is really Chris, but why has she allowed the lie?

I did plead with him to think about maybe trying as little as a chap every month? Im not sure. Im hurting just as much as all of you wanting to see more of her. I did my best. It just wasn't good enough.

Being Christina Chase
The last posting of Being Christina Chase was over five months ago. Has anybody heard anything from the Admiral? I'm looking forward the reading the last eight chapters promised, if time be available for their writing.

Christina
I have a few favorite authors. I certainly have to put you on that list. Even though, I am about a year and a half late in reading this story... I am trapped by a paradox. The faster I was drawn into this story the more I feared, that, I would soon finish it and not have access to the window you have created. I would not hesitate for one second to join this very happy and unique family. There were times when I cried ( sometimes I was just driving ) and there were times I just laughed outloud...but at those times, I knew that, I just had to log on again to be back in Oak Grove, to feel I was back home. I pray that you will find the time to continue the lovely story in the future. I am pausing now to cry a little at some memories of this story that just popped into my mind.
Love, Mary.
After all that
I do not know if I would have spent my time reading this series if I had known that it was not going to be completed! Having said that, I really did enjoy this story!! I laughed and cried and wanted to hit Christina at times!! Why she had to put herself through all that when she had a loving family to help her!! I did not have that when I transitioned and went through many nights crying myself to sleep!! That was 11 years ago and things are so much better now! My family now accepts me!! I will bookmark this story and check back occassionly, but I do not hold much hope!! This is another "Making Lemonaide".
Pamela
I also enjoyed this story.
But, I'm sad that it hasn't been finished... perhaps it never will be finished! I wish Christina could become the woman she seems to be.
Diane.
I'm so very disappointed
This is easily one of the top 10 (top 5? top 3?) story I've ever read. It had me laugh (mostly at Christina and Richard) and cry multiple times. So engrossing, I wish it was an actual book so I could read it and re-read it at my leisure.
Of course, that was before I got to the "end" and realized that it was 8 chapters short. I so dearly wish to see it completed and know what happens to Christina and everyone (and to see Diana eat DIRT), but it seems the Admiral is away and might never complete this story.
I enjoyed this story to death. I would buy the book, if it were. But whoever reposted this story should have tagged it as incomplete, to spare us the disappointment.

beautiful story
I couldn't stop reading once I started this wonderfully emotional story (I went through a whole box of tissues). I hope you are able to complete it someday, it's sad to see a story this good go unfinished.
Thank you for sharing as much as you have.
Absolutely wonderful story
I can only say that I truly wish there were much more to read as this is one of those stories that can go on nearly forever! :}
It is rare for myself to be completely captivated but you have done extremely well in writing this story. I felt like Christina and felt like I was part of her new found family as well.
I can only say that I wished that I had had such a family but such is life right!?

It Would Be Sad Indeed
If this so unusual and really clever story were to be added to the many unfinished ones that litter the few sites dedicated to TG and TS and CD stories, Admiral.
I do hope you are in good health and will soon be able to continue and reach a satisfactory end with it.

Waiting and Hoping
Every few months I find myself re-reading this story just to keep it fresh in my mind. When I reach the end of 44 I catch myself wishing the rest of the story would find it's way here.
I just finished one of my many re-reads so the story's fresh in my mind, should the admiral happen to resume posting (insert church full of monks praying Novena).

Kudos Admiral
I have just finally read, " Being Christina Chase. I thouroughly enjoyed the sory, the details of Oak Grove and the lovely family that Christina now has. This story was very humourous and serious with internal thoughts and uncertaintity on Christina's part. I do hop there is a continuation of this as it is a very enjoyable story. All the characters are lifelike and well drawn out as if you are there with them while they chat. Thanks Admiral for a lovely enchanting story.

ADMIRAL ON BOARD!!!!!!!!!
Christina Chase Chapters 45 - 52
I myself will be awestruck and amazed if that ever happened. Christina is a very vibrant and real character - very real to me: She is charming, and caring, intelligent, and willing to endure and do for others. I have yet to see if Christina ever decides to stay as Christina or go back to Chris when all is said and done. I care about this character a lot.
I, like many others, ache to see this series go on and then more of Krunch's imagination on other projects.
The Admiral is a professional person, top notch writer and always puts in 200% for everything he does.
If you are out here Admiral, I am still aboard your ship. I am awaiting your imagination and creativity. You have not lost me as a fan.

Second that ditto
Like the previous commenter, I may be a few years late in reading this gem.
Plotwise, I wonder if Anastasia was actually transgendered herself, with Abby's remarks about her needing a little help "up there." During the exchange with Andrei and his seeming deduction of the "something wrong" that he saw upon meeting Christina, he seemed sympathetic and calm, which is unlike previous instances where he's suspected that Christina is a fraud. It is quite strange that no one suspects a thing, including Dr. Stone, who examined her after the accident, but it could all be because they are simply not surprised.
Again, we could only postulate what will happen going forward until we hear the rest of the story.
In any case, Christina Chase is truly inspiring as a character, and in terms of writing all of the characters are extremely well developed. Thanks so much for a wonderful story. :)
I can honestly say that I
I can honestly say that I have never seen the comments on a story go over fifty and spill over to a second page. I think that is a testament to the author and the story. Please finish Admiral your pension will be waiting. Smiles, Jenn.
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Wow
So I know I'm only a few years late but having found it, I just have to add my thanks for the story so far, and my hope that we might yet read the rest of Chris's adventure.
Best wishes from New Zealand.
Way too easy...
...Chris went way too easy on his uncle for embarrasing him like that. What a dense hayseed to call his nephew/niece away from a buisness dinner for a 10 o'clock curfew.
...Chris went way too easy on Richard. Richard may not have recognized it but he was given a choice when he saw only part of the struggle between Dianne and Chris. He chose Dianne and not Chris. Dianne said she was in a competition with Chris but Richard could not, by chris's elaboration, make the very small leap that there was more there than met his eyes.
Uncle Alek and Christina
Actually the whole point of this is that Christina is having trouble confronting Uncle Alek. Just forcing him to acknowledge her as an adult by allowing her to speak is all that the author is trying to accomplish in this chapter. Remember, we need to allow the STORY to unfold. These are not real people. We are only learning about them through the eyes of the author via these small vignettes. No deus ex machina here. Both are locked into the roles that were assigned to them early in the story and both need to grow or at least to evolve..I haven't read the finish yet but Uncle Alek has a lot of baggage and personal issues a to work through. He is revered not for his flexibility, but for his immutable sense of honor, consistency, reliability and his predictability is not a character flaw, it's his nature. His intransigence is part of his charm and it is both an asset and his Achilles heel. Hmmmm. Who will yield?
I can't wait fir the ending and yet I fear it. Love the characters and hate to lose them.
Val
Such wonderful writing
Yes, the story is superb. And this was a fantastic chapter for Christina’s growth. The short conversation with Misha — “No, Christina, I cannot do this for you” — and her mature and straightforward conversations with Alex and Richard — were perfect and welcome. There’s a price to pay for growing up, but a far bigger price, long-term, for failing to.
However, the writing in this chapter just jumped out at me. A dress so orange she was worried about getting juiced? Oh my! And my favorite up front: “The bacon wrinkled , the oil danced, and Christina sulked.” Masterful. :)
