Good start of the final conflict
Good start of the final conflict or what I feel is the final fight.
Damn those cliff hangers!
I knew it couldn’t be as easy as it seemed. But at least Kr’aethar is truly hurt beneath his new armor.
Now if Jaeri can survive the fall she should get a nice damage buff out of it, lol.

.....about the cliff hanger thing. This posting did go further than I thought it might though.
Sigh
CLIFF HANGING: RANK 7
Hopefully her reflexes are good enough for her to reorient herself and maybe a shield can cushion her fall.
Now is a good time for the gods on the other plane to attack.
Oh, and since Maelyne was able to float down after she was freed, I wonder if Jaeri might have a similar ability.
Kr’aethar is a tank so it is not surprising he is harder to take down than Pfath was.
Rank 7...
Hahahahaaa!
Hmmmmm
I wonder what would happen if Jaeri anchors a shield on the tip of her spear while pointing it at the ground right now? The shields take some pretty hard hits and stop them from getting through.
Just thinking outside the box here.
And, having hopefully survived the fall, how will she get back up top again? Will she have to go through zombie land? Will we then find out if those damn things have a respawn timer on them?

LIGHTBULB!
Ok, so we know that Jaeri's shields when anchored to the ground/floor/building/etc will remain stationary, and when anchored to a moveable object can be 'pushed'.
But what is actually doing the 'pushing' in those instances? Is it the physical force of the body being used to push the shield, OR IS IT JAERI'S WILL??? Hmmmmm.
If it is actually her will moving the shield, then is it possible to anchor the shield on the spear and 'push' it back UP to the roof again?
- Leona
Well, they didn't listen to me...
Samantha and I recommended that they kill Arakthiel FIRST!
**********
Once JAERI strikes with her spear, the accumulated "damage bonus" is expended - JAERI has to start over from zero (0) AGAIN!
Early on in the Zombie Fight, JAERI used her spear - STUPID MOVE - I hope it doesn't result in one of the Champions getting killed!
***********
Based upon the battle in the Patron's Homelands (observed by Jeri), Arakthiel is easier to kill (Maelyne & Armestia's attacks on K did no damage - Their attacks on Arakthiel did do damage!
K. Is fast, but Arakthiel was stealthy & faster[???]! Arakthiel is more DEADLY!!!
**********
I still think there is time for Cassandra and JAERI's Companions to get down on their knees and worship the Demi-God...
**********
I suggested in two of my comments in earlier chapters (the Chapter before Jeri escaped from Nadine & Not Robe and Chapter 41) that JAERI should try to use "Summon Companion" to summon another Champion. If she had done that (and it worked) she could have summoned Magical Girl to JAERI's Location saving her from Arakthiel and allowing Magical Girl to save JAERI from falling.

{Chapter 24 Comment}
"Re: 'Well Robe is Done' & 'That's not how I read it'"
"...If I remember when Jeri & Teri killed Nadine, she turned into "bubbles"! When Ice Queen was defeated by Cassandra, she was not killed - NO BUBBLES were reported!
I've seen too many horror movies - after I kill the monster, I'm going to behead him, put a stake in his heart, pour holy water over the body, burn the body, put the ashes in a cold iron box with a silver cross, cover the box with chains, and throw the box into a volcano (i.e. symbolically throwing it directly into HELL!)..."
The point of the comment was you don't stop until you are sure he's dead!
"Rookie Mistake" by JAERI.
I hope it doesn't get anyone killed.
**********
In a comment to the last chapter, I suggested a scenario ( for this chapter) that didn't happen! I was expecting to see more glowing spheres and skill boxes.
**********
In an earlier comment. I suggested that Jeri try a reverse Companion summon (i.e. summon herself to the location of her Companion). Now would be a good time to try it!!!
*********
DID I MENTION THAT WORSHIPPING A DEMI-GOD MIGHT BE A REAL GOOD IDEA?
It aint over till the fat lady sings
or is it until Jeari uses her devine power in her spear?
Oooh! A cliff hanger!
I don't remember having seen a big cliff hanger lately. This should be fun, speculating what might happen next.
Tricks
Jaeri has to have to have some tricks up her sleeve her divine power was growing during the tower fights, hopefully she can pull something out of her bag.
hugs :)

Morpheus' fight scenes are awesome
and this one is as good as any.
Except maybe; "The Changeling Chronicles", the "IMP" series, "A Glow in the Darkness" "Kombat Champion", "Among the Val Kyr" and others I may not have read yet.
falling!
hmm, could she use her shield to create like a kite or glider so she could at least slow down a little?
Cliff hanger endings
The best thing about Morpheus’ cliff hanger endings is the next chapter and the joy of seeing it in the list of new releases. Talk about anticipation!
Epic Fight
Good start . . . always make sure your enemy is down before moving on to the next. Dungeon crawling 101. lol

The Keys of Victory
{Chapter 42}:
"..."Me too, Teri added, holding a fancy looking key up as if it was a trophy. It actually resembled the one that Fraethe had given me [JAERI] ..."
{Chapter 36}:
"...As soon as the key came in contact with the chain, it vanished in a flash of light. The chain suddenly began to crumble apart where the key had touched it, and this spread up the lengths of the chain, from one link to the next. Each link crumbled away, leaving nothing but a trail of falling dust behind. It only took seconds for this to reach the sphere, then to spread over the rest of the chain, and to the black thorny vines..."
{Chapter 42}:
"...From the look of the throne, it had probably been made from the vault which had been placed there the competition..."
{Chapter 42}:
"...So far, we we'd recovered six of the
seven keys that had been spread through the the challenge, and we needed only three of them to open the vault..."
{Chapter 42}:
"...As soon as he {Kr'aethar] touched it, the metal began to melt and flow up his arm..."
**********
Teri looked at Kr'aethar and said "Gee, you're really small for a guy. My neighbor's Tomcat is bigger!" Cassandra, and Lauren immediately burst out laughing as JAERI shouted "DON'T TAUNT THE TROLL!"
So You're Suggesting...
...that if they can get one (or maybe three) of the keys into contact with Kr'aethar he'll at least lose his armor and extra height and maybe even have his body start crumbling?
Intriguing thought...
Eric
(My sadly literal mind tells me that this can't be considered a cliffhanger since Jaeri fell off...)
That must be it; 'the keys'.
That must be it; 'the keys'. Hopefully it will work that way.
Awwwwww crap not again
I don't know HOW this will turn out for our hero & her friends but it's not looking too good right now.
Love Samantha Renée Heart.
Maelyne Shield
Jaeri will be ok falling down with Maelyne Shield. The only problem would be time wasted climbing back up to the top, but impact from falling on her shield sure will charged her damage buff to a great extend.
Just pray all the champions and companions are still alive by the time she is up to the top of the building again.
flying shield to the rescue!
flying shield to the rescue!
We know the shields are
We know the shields are physical. We know they are very tough.
Knowing those two things and that our Heroine can make Multiple shields would it be possible to bisect one of the evil gods with her shields then shear them apart?
Key Clues
I have been wondering for some time how Morpheus has been able to sustain his blistering publishing schedule...
I suspect he has already written most of the story and has simply decided to publish the individual chapters on a REGULAR schedule.
The "key clue" for me was suprise - "The Seven Keys"!
"The Seven Keys" were first mentioned just before the last regular contest (which ended before it started).
The second mention of "the seven keys" was in the current chapter! I immediately made the connection to the prior mention of "the Seven Keys".
When I read that K used "the vault" to replace his armor, it was pretty obvious that the Champions could use "the Seven Keys" to take out K!
**************
Another "key clue" to the challenges facing JAERI comes from earlier chapters!
In the chapter where Robe tried to attack Jeri after the conclusion of the contest, the Referee enclosed Robe in a floating ball (the discription of which is similar to Maelyne's Shield)!
In a later chapter where Maelyne was Killed, Jeri rescued Maelyne from a trap where she was inside a floating Maelyne's Shield. Once the chains & vines were destroyed, Maelyne's Shield floated down to the ground near Jeri! In the same chapter, Maelyne dealt with the "guard" by enclosing him in another floating ball and sent the floating ball far away from the fight.
This is a "key clue" to solving JAERI's immediate problem at the end of the current chapter!
JAERI has already figured out how to move her shields!
Maelyne's Shield can "float".
Maelyne demonstrated that she can move her Maelyne's Shield.
All JAERI has to do is cast a Marlyne's Shield and maneuver it over the roof!!!
Congrats
I think you’ve Mastered this key plot point and, heh heh heh, Kr’aether has already been pinned and just doesn’t know it yet?
Thank you for explaining how you tumbled to this and, safe to say, has cracked the plot.
Did you go to Yale by any chance?
Re:"Congrats"
Thank you for the compliment. There is no guarantee my theories are correct, but they are based upon logical deduction.
Charlton Heston stared in a movie called Midway. In one scene he asked an intelligence officer how much of the Japanese Message intercepts the officer's men had decoded. When he was told "...ten percent...", MATT GARTH (Carlton Heston) exploded and said "...THAT'S ONE WORD IN TEN. YOU'RE GUESSING!..." The intelligence officer replied "We like to call it 'analysis' Matt."
The information the intelligence officer gave to CAPT Matt Garth [a fictional character in the movie] led to the defeat of the Japanese In the Battle of Midway during WW II.
**********
I did not go to Yale. However, I do have a degree from Cal Poly, Pomona.
Tougher than shoe leather
Those two are going to be very difficult to destroy, so everyone needs a new strategy.
Kr'aethar has already been hurt so they both know what happens if the lose. But with Kr'aethar absorbing his throne, it might have become harder to vanquish him.
But right now Jaeri has more pressing problems with surviving a fall.
Others have feelings too.
