I am enjoying the story.......
But I must admit I am bothered by the last line. That is not what I expected to see.
Perhaps something will happen to change Shirley’s mind?

Wasn't Expecting That Last Line...
...though it seems to me that the attitude he's implying or even expressing -- the world and its people have gone so far downhill that you might as well blow them all up and start over -- usually comes from someone a lot older than Marvin's 53.
And I thought Marvin's mind would be bothered by the mind-control aspect, figuring it's contrary to his presumed view that humanity should engineer its own demise without needing artificial attitude changes.
I do see where the story's not inconsistent with the present-day situation -- or for that matter with the human idea, going back a long time (possibly to pre-civilization days) that the most practical and efficient way to achieve domination over an enemy is to plunge them into chaos.

Well, he certainly knows how to design a computer game
Those are great ideas on how to keep a gamer interested.
Marvin's thoughts or their implants?
Programmers do have a tendency to harbor their own opinions how a game should appear and function. So it shouldn't be unexpected that Shirley/Marvin would see a division among those programmers.
Marvin's last thoughts are very chilling, but are they his/her's or were they implanted but the aliens? What were Marvin's feelings while still in the service? Did he harbor the same feelings as s/he does now?
And how will those aliens cover up those kidnappings? Kidnap street teens? Are the aliens going to arm those teens, otherwise where will they get weapons that accomplish the aliens desires? And how will they prevent the authorities from stopping those teens, because the authorities will act?
Others have feelings too.
