The Jacket Knows

The Jacket Knows

I found a jacket that remembers a missing girl, and it’s rewriting my body one day at a time. Now I have to solve that girl's murder before the coat finishes its work and I disappear into someone else’s life.

I bought the jacket because it was warm. That should’ve been the end of it.

Instead, it started changing my body, quietly at first, then all at once and filling my head with fragments that weren’t mine. A girl’s face. A stairwell. A name: Wilma Struthers. Missing for two years, presumed dead, and somehow tied to the coat now hanging in my apartment.

I’ve spent most of my life learning how to stay unnoticed, especially in a city like Denver. But the jacket won’t let me stay hidden. It keeps pulling me toward Wilma’s last days, toward a dangerous man who knows more than he says, and toward a truth I may not survive long enough to hear. If I’m right, the coat isn’t just changing me. It’s trying to turn me into the one person who can finish what Wilma started.
