A New Style of Education - Part 54
Seems that David is still coming to grip with things. Just as Helen is.

I'm a fan of the entire
I'm a fan of the entire series all the way back to concrete cows. I do wish to be able to see more of this stories chapters but today seeing it I was like Oh Yay! and clicked on.
It's a great story and premise, you're got great talent.
Please keep it up.
Thank you, thank you, thank
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I just finished reading the entire series again, and was wondering when you would be posting the next chapter ....
A great story.
It's nice to see a new part
It is always nice to see a new part added to one of my favorite stories. Though it seems just a tad on the short side to me. I don't blame the staff for being concern over David but there is a thing of watching someone so much that it can lead to the exact problem there trying to prevent. And a little heart break never really killed anyone, well at least not that I am aware of. Although I rather have been told Your a great friend, over being told I see you more as family I never really had. I personally experince the Family bit a lot more then I have the great friend. Anyways I hope I get to see more of this story and the others in this Verse to come around a little faster.

New New Style!
Always good to see a new chapter of such a wonderful story.
It was also good to see Helen so protective towards David.
This felt like a special treat for me, as I had just finished catching up on the stuff that I've missed lately.

This series i have followed
This series i have followed avidly since the Concrete Cows chapters. Have enjoyed it all so far, but this episode lost me a bit. I dont really understand all that psychobabble, for me the only sort of psychology that makes sense and can be proven is that based upon hard wired instinctive and conditioned reflex behaviours. Beyond that and it is either too complex for me or just feels like nonsense.
Of course, after reading a lot of books in my early teens on psychology and psychiatry nach Herrn Doktors Freud und Jung, and coming to the conclusion that "truly i do not understand humans!", I settled on studying the behaviour of less complicated creatures, so this could explain my response. All I got from human psychology was the impression that whatever pathology i had just read about, I had it! Until my teacher suggested that they all were excessive manifestations and that by having all of them they cancelled each other out, making me Perfectly Normal!
I think it would in Real Life be dangerous for these gifted children to have so many Head Shrinkers hanging about. Psychologists look for abnormal states until they find them, then take hours of your precious life discussing your imaginary problems with you until you are so bored that they seem real. Leastways, that is my experience of them. A few Real problems soon make the imaginary ones disappear.
Bless the memory of my teacher dear Dr Brooks, who taught me to look outside not inside.

re: Shrinks
Hi
"Let live" is something they do, and can be seen in part 55 (which is with proofers, so is subject to change). The psychiatrists aren't there to tell them how to live life, they are there to make sure they live. David, Helen, Stacy, Andy, Ingrid and Fran have both had a large trauma, and wouldn't be right for them not to have some therapy. This, as a current theme in the story, should be finished soon as they get back to normal school life (as normal as Hayfield Hall gets).

So Wonderful to Hear
It is such a wonderful thing to hear that part 55 is in the editing stages though I understand at any time if you do not agree with it you redo and change everything that is causing the problem. I would love to be a char in this verse that you created and shared though honestly I am unsure which school I would like better. Due to the Military I am use to travel. But I am fund of my Country the United States. But I want to be close to Ireland to learn a little of my family history but also want to learn about the Scottish side of it as well. So which would I really want to be a part of is so hard to tell. Any ways thanks for this wonderful world you have created if you or the others ever need help I will do what I can.

Breaking through conditioning
The event in Russia was beyond anything a thirteen or fourteen-year-old kid would ever face. And never having previous experience no one at the school could be absolutely sure how they'd react.
The school has created a problem by emphasizing being with their partner, sharing with their partner, do lessons with their partner, be there for their partner. As Stacy and David discovered, separation anxiety developed when they both feared the worse about Helen and Andy. The school, while meaning well, actually created this problem, and then have extra work to try and help the students cope. Even Lewis showed the anxiety when Brian went into surgery.
It's nice that the school is trying to show these kids that it's okay to be with others and speak their minds. But they should also be shown that at times it's okay to be alone as well.
Sex education has always been embarrassing when presented in schools. And that's for the simple reason because it's been deemed a taboo subject for ages. It's been objectivefied as naughty. A subject below speaking about. And as such, brings out the clods who think it funny when the subject is discussed.
Those clods have been raised thinking sex is only about what they can get for themselves, not what it's really about. They don't see it as procreation but self satisfaction. In short, their minds are in the gutter and likely to stay there for some time.
David is really naive in that he's never had a crush and was unable to recognize the one he has with Stacy, or how to deal with it. He needs to realize the full meaning behind Stacy's words that she was honored that he has a crush on her. Because it means she sees him more than just a friend but less than a lover. She likely sees David as a very close brother.
David, though, sees her declaration as a rebuff, an admission of dislike, telling him she doesn't like him. It's the only way he can take it after his past experiences. It's these past experiences Rachel is trying to get him to look at and see how much they affect him now. To see how much they are holding him back. The same applies to Helen, which is why she was ready to go toe to toe with the Hulk.
Every kid who comes to the school has been conditioned with thoughts and beliefs which belonged to others. Whether they are right or wrong isn't the issue. The issue is getting those kids to realize they can think for themselves, are able to think in ways that were off base in their homes and schools. The school is trying to help these kids break out of a mold society said every kid fits nicely into.
Others have feelings too.
