This shit is getting way out of hand. Trump’s little Gestapo force is now stopping off duty police officers in the Twin Cities, all because they are not caucasians. Racial profiling at it’s best - not only are they stopping and harassing US citizens, but they are now doing it to people who are without doubt fully aware of their rights as citizens and very cognizant of the law. People who are not only well within their rights to be where they are, but people who are sworn to uphold the law and to protect and serve the community in which they live.
This bull shit of stopping people and demanding their “papers” because they aren’t white is totally and completely illegal. And since when are we required to carry proof of citizenship in this country? Did we suddenly become Nazi Germany? Or perhaps the USSR?
It is well past time that the people of this country woke up and stood up for their rights. It is past time to put an end to this crap, and get rid of the clown in the White House and his craven crew in Congress.

Everything that’s happening in Minneapolis right now is the product of a Supreme Court that professes to believe in “originalism” and “textualism.” Yet somehow, they believe that requiring non-Caucasians to show their “papers” is consistent with the Fourteenth’s Amendment’s guarantee of equal protection under the law, and the Fourth Amendment’s express protection of “[t]he right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.”
Originalism and textualism were always just excuses. Now, the excuse is so transparent that only the willfully blind can fail to see through it.

The majority of Supreme Court justices just threw out a California law banning open carry of firearms because there was no historical basis to support the ban. Apparently, since no one banned open carry of firearms in the 1700’s or 1800’s, the conservative majority of the Supreme Court says it can’t be done now. Which is the most ridiculous and ignorant argument I have ever heard.
Hmmmmmm………. Let’s see. Since white people never used to be able to marry black people, then Clarence Thomas shouldn’t be allowed to marry his wife. There is no historical basis for the law legalizing interracial marriage, hence, his marriage is illegal. Not to mention the fact that based on the reasoning he agreed with, he should still be picking cotton somewhere south of the Mason-Dixon Line!
Originalism is obviously wrong. Has the Supreme Court gone too far in some of their rulings in the past? Perhaps, but making the argument that new laws cannot be created without a historical basis in the 1700’s is just plain stupid. Our legal system is a living thing, and it was created to be that way. Our founding fathers knew that they could not predict the changes the future would bring, so they created a system which could change and adapt to the changes in society.
Refusing to admit to those changes is the surest way to extinction for our system of government. And it is perhaps the best argument for term limits for Supreme Court justices that could be put forward. Term limits, and age limits, for any government officials should be a consideration going forward. We have too many fossils inhabiting our government - in all three branches. Too many career politicians who are more interested in keeping their jobs and maintaining their privileged positions than they are in serving the people and the country.
Change is inevitable; one either rolls with the changes, or gets rolled over.

This is a comment and a warning on the practices of persecution and intimidation, like "don't walk alone down unlit alleys at night".. It's a public service announcement.
ICE is conducting a war on non-white people, as is the so-called Government instigating such searches.
As for SCOTUS, if they really adhered to originalism the right to bear arms would be limited to muskets, flintlock pistols, knives and swords, none of these new-fangled multi-shot AR-15s and the like.
When your Second Revolution comes SCOTUS should be purged of the treasonous members who facilitate these vile practices.

The phrase “sic semper tyrannis” is depicted on the State Seal of Virginia, wherein a triumphant Virtue stands, spear in hand, with her foot upon the recumbent body of Tyranny - who’s crown lies upon the ground nearby. Strangely enough, many Southern newspapers prior to the civil war would carry the phrase, “Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.” Those self-same people who once preached such resistance would now kiss Trump’s ring and bend the knee to him. How times have changed.
But resistance to tyranny is in our blood, in our history, and in our genes.

Pick Your Tyrant?
I think the use of the phrase most familiar to modern Americans (at least the Boomer generation and thereabouts, perhaps outside Virginia) is that John Wilkes Booth shouted it as he killed Abraham Lincoln on the balcony at Ford's Theater.
That's where I learned it, anyway.
