Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary…….

And although I know my spouse will never see this post, I simply wanted everyone to know how much she has meant to me over the past several decades. Tomorrow will be our 40th anniversary, which is probably about 39 years longer than I expected our marriage to last, lol.

Has anyone heard anything from Daring Diane?

The last I heard from her she was working on a new book in her Cheerleader series, but it has been quite a while since she published anything. I am more than a little concerned about her. Too many authors have simply disappeared over the past few years.

Too many simply slip away, never to be heard from again. Too much talent is lost to the world when it happens, and those of us left behind can only wonder why, only wonder what happened.

Just a quick comment about one of my pet peeves……

My spouse is a huge NY Yankees fan, which can be veeeeeery annoying, lol. Especially since our local cable tv provider carries the YES Network (Yankee Entertainment System), which means that EVERY SINGLE YANKEE GAME FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON IS ON TV, and she has to watch all of them.

Now I have nothing against sports in general, or baseball specifically - but it is very annoying when for basically half of the year she has to watch a baseball game every day! Especially since I am a Dodger fan, and she is watching the damned Yankees!

Sudden issues reading on Fictionmania.com……..

I have been re-reading a group of my favorite stories recently, including Clara’s works on Fictionmania.

Last night, when I finished part five of “Kiss Me Bianca”, closed it, and went to open part six, I suddenly received an error message, which read as follows:

429 Too Many Requests
If you're a human being, try again tomorrow
If you're a bot, go to Hell and stay there!

I am still not able to access anything beyond the entry page at Fictionmania. Anyone else having this issue?

Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Or why I am getting it?

Prohibiting transgender people from owning firearms, their justification being that supposedly, “Statistically, the trans population has been prone to violence.” White House Senior Director for Counterterrorism Sebastian Gorka made similar remarks: "In just a couple of years, we have seen seven mass shootings involving people of transgender nature or who are confused in their gender. Seven in just the last couple of years. That is inordinately high."

Let’s look at real facts here:

But isn’t it ironic that in 2023 when Charlie Kirk was asked whether he thought his right to own a gun was more important than school children being shot and killed he responded, “I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.

Dr. Shannon Joslin, a biologist and bat researcher who has passionately worked at Yosemite for years as an employee of the National Park Service, was recently terminated by the Trump administration. On their own free time, SJ and six others climbed El Capitan in Yosemite and took part in a tradition of hanging a flag at the top. Hanging flags off El Capitan has occurred in the past without consequences. In February, demonstrators hung an upside-down U.S. flag, often symbolizing a distress call, on El Capitan to draw attention to the mass firings by the Trump administration.

While reading the newspaper today I came upon an article detailing how the state of Oklahoma is now requiring teacher applicants from both New York and California who are looking to get a job teaching in Oklahoma to pass a loyalty test. The test is produced by PragerU, an Oklahoma based conservative non-profit which is becoming well known for posting ultra-conservative and religiously based teaching materials on-line.

Some years back I read EE Nalley’s Belle Of The Ball story……

And thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been trying to locate it for some time now, a d all I get are references to it being posted on either Sapphire’s Place or Stardust. Unfortunately, I am not able to open either site.

Does anyone know where the story can be found?

Thanks!

One of my daughters-in-law is finally about to make my spouse and I grandparents for the first time this October. We (my spouse and I) are putting a baby shower on for her this Saturday, and have been putting a lot of effort into getting ready over the past several weeks. Tomorrow is a day for some final prep work, including finalizing some of the food, and then hopefully relax until Friday evening.

For the past several days I have been re-reading Elsbeth’s works…….

I don’t know why, but I just started re-reading The Other Side of the Forest, and I’m not even sure how many times this makes. That of course led me to reading The Lost Queen again, which led me to reading essentially all of her work again. I lost track of how many times I have read her work a long time ago.

When I awoke this morning, having stayed in bed later than I usually do as it is a dreary day, I checked the news and weather as is my usual habit - well, after my usual morning ablutions and grabbing my first cup of coffee anyway. The first thing I noticed was that two Democratic lawmakers, and their spouses, were shot in an obvious politically motivated execution in Minneapolis, Minnesota overnight.

Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were both killed, and Senator John Hoffman and his wife were both shot multiple times but as of this writing are still alive.

Dumbass Donald make a comment a few days ago about how American girls might not get thirty dolls anymore, they might have to make due with two dolls and they might cost more. This was his response to retailers letting the American public know that his tariffs are going to make toys cost considerably more this coming Christmas.

Lawrence O’Donnell had an unbelievable commentary on Trump’s statement (see attached) in which he coined the name “Donny Two Dolls” - which is absolutely the best name for the Orange Asshat yet!

CBS reported this evening that at the direction of Pete Hegseth, the Department of Defense is upgrading the green room attached to the Pentagon briefing room. Understandably, facilities need to be upgraded periodically - even those used by the military.

However, the interesting thing about this report is that apparently we are paying $10,000 to $15,000 to upgrade the green room by adding a make up station - all at the suggestion of Tami Radabaugh,a former Fox News producer who works for Hegseth, and apparently approved by Hegseth’s wife - also a former Fox News producer.

Several weeks ago, I added a quote to my signature line here; a quote which I remembered from my youth. A few people have inquired as to the origin of the quote, so I felt the need to explain it.

I was raised as a Lutheran - the church of my mother’s family, something for which I give thanks regularly. My father’s family were Baptists, and I give thanks that I was NOT raised in that church! It has been my experience that all churches have their share of hypocrites, but the percentage amongst the Baptists seems to be considerably higher, as does the number of assholes.

Illegal search and seizure of a U.S. citizen by ICE. This is exactly what we fought against in 1776, and now Trump and his Nazi administration are bringing it back to our country.

This man was born In Georgia and is an American citizen. A judge examined his birth certificate and determined that is is “undoubtably valid”, yet he is still being held in an ICE detention center in violation of his rights as a citizen, as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.

Donald Trump is trying to figure out how to deport US citizens to prison in El Salvador, which is apparently his new American gulag. In a press conference at the White House, his Press Secretary admitted that Trump was looking for a way to revoke the citizenship of naturalized citizens in order to deport them. Apparently he is also working on trying to retroactively revoke the citizenship of people born within the United States in order to deport them as well.

Is a scene from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In the scene, Indiana and his father travel to Berlin just before the start of WWII in order to retrieve his father’s diary. While there, they witness a book burning in the town square, with hundreds of people cheering as the Nazis pile books upon the flames. Indiana’s father, played by Sean Connery, turns to him and says, “My boy, we are pilgrims in an unholy land.”

The US Naval Academy posted a list of nearly 400 books being removed from the Nimitz Library as part of Trump’s purge of anything smacking of truth in history or social reality. Amongst the items purged were works by Maya Angelou, as well as books memorializing Holocaust survivors, or books on the history of the Ku Klux Klan or racism.

Apparently only a lily white, all male staff is qualified to lead the US Military.
