which just about sums up this week.
I did manage to get out for a bit of a ride yesterday before the rain swept in on the back of some quite stiff easterly winds but it was still less than 50km. So much for good intentions. And it's looking like the rest of the week will be more damp.
I've not been entirely idle in the enforced indoorness, Monday afternoon i spent planning and making pre-emptive bookings for my June trip to Yorkshire. Of course it's not gonna be a straight ride up country, oh no, where's the fun in that? Nope, the route will take me along the south coast to Dover where i catch a ferry to France. Then i ride north through Belgium and Holland to catch the ferry from Rotterdam to Hull and on to the cycle rally a further 50km north. Having worked out a plan i now have to work out how to finance it - The week long north bound trip will be @ 850km at a cost of @ £1 per kilometre.
Then yesterday i thought i'd revive my Birthday trip, more expense for a two/three day trip to ride from Plymouth, over Dartmoor and back towards Brizzle, taking the train for the last leg of the 350km trip. That's a month away and likely to cost @ £150 but is subject to the weather, i'll take Foxy south on a coach then stay at Moretonhampstead on Dartmoor overnight before continuing up through Devon and Somerset to Yeovil to catch the train.
I'm getting quite antsy regarding the lack of 'exciting' bike riding, in fact any bike riding!
Hopefully i'll get some writing done today, once i've got the dumplings going in the lamb stew we got going yesterday - it's been a while since we had such solid 'winter' food, a proper winter warmer. Looking forward, it could be Saturday before i can get a bike ride in so potentially a couple more days of writing are on the cards.
So that's about it for today, more Gaby and musings on Sunday, but for now,
Wiedersehn,

Mmm - stew
Just the thing to get us through the damp cold days.
Reluctant to tog up and venture into the recent horizontal weather, I subscribed to a local gym on a cut-price afternoon ticket. It's been good for my fitness though un-exciting pedalling. A pool too, I went for an ungainly flail across it today. Not a great swimmer.
I do hope your tour plans come out Ok.

I’m
A terrible swimmer
Back before the Seoul Olympics my employers decided to run their own version (they had factories on three continents and 7 countries) and some wag decided I was a shoe in for the triathlon. Long story short, on qualifying day I finished the swim best part of ten minutes in arrears but still managed to win by an okay margin. At the actual event, held in Germany at company hq I actually did the 10km run, missing a gong by seconds.
As for my trip, well mostly I need to concentrate on wealth generation and saving as much as I can. I have a plan and a budget to aim for and the income stream looks okay so far.
