I've had a problem with Fictionmania all day. I thought that it was my system that was the problem.

Is kinda like this almost everyday. Usually takes a while but it's always back up and running.

May be bots
Given the recent hammerings that BC has had, it may be bots trying to saturate the site.
All anyone can do is back off and try again some other time.

I'm seeing lots of activity
on my website. I mean lots. They are all attempts to access the site using "Login.cgi". That is old skool. I have not seen a site with that file present for years.
Thursday : 112 login attempts
Friday : 198 login attempts
TBH, there is no point in blocking the source IP address.
Keep alert people.

I have fail2ban set on my server
I have fail2ban set on my server, to catch certain patterns in web server logs. + a long term ban for repeat offenders + some custom logic that groups multiple attempts from different IPs in the same subnet to ban that subnet. That puts it slightly under control.
CSF/LFD
We use a combination of Cloudflare, plus a forked version of CSF/LFD and cluster the machines so that they share a master list of bad actors. I like the idea on the logic to track subnets. I might have to consider that more.
