Interactive Table of Contents question

My latest offering features an interactive Table of Contents. The body of the story is preceded by a column of jump-links that allows the reader to jump to a particular chapter. I've pretty much decided that on longer works (in my mind that means >20K words) that rather than posting as a serial I'll provide this kind of means for the reader to read part of the story, leave and come back later and be able to jump to where they left off.

New story up

A Small Protest cover.png

I wrote this story some time ago. Until now it was only available as an eBook from online retailers.

It was inspired by a very real protest in 2017. It was chronicled by instinctmagazine.com in their story titled: “Boys in Skirts Beat the Heat—and the System” and featured this photo.

To everything there is a season.

To everything – Kern, Kern, Kern
There is a season - Kern, Kern, Kern
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing

To everything – Kern, Kern, Kern
There is a season - Kern, Kern, Kern
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones
A time to gather stones together

Tomorrow, tomorrow

Kern will come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be Kern!

Just thinking about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

Kern will come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!

Kern is just a day away

Errorc 404 - insperation not found.

I don't know. Maybe I'm depressed or maybe just tired. I have three stories going as Works In Progress. In each case, when I reach a point where I needed to work out how to reach the next plot point I usually put that to the back of my mind to let my subconscious work it out. So as to keep the creative juices flowing I then pick up one of the other stories and find that my subconscious has a handle on how to proceed. I've been making great progress on all three stories

Intense

That's a different kind of writers block. I like to write in first person and when I do, my best work comes when I get totally inside the head of my protagonist. On occasion, like right now, what's going on in there is intense. So intense, in fact, that I need to take a step back to allow my emotions to settle.

The current effort is flowing nicely at the moment and the main character has reached a crisis point in how he's handling and reacting to the situation he's found himself in.

New blood and posting mutiple chapters

It seems to me, of late we've acquired several new authors. At least there's a number of authors whose names I'm not familiar with posting stories. Some of them are quite prolific. Unfortunately, for me, only one of them consistently posts stories that scratch my itch. :o(

My muse is at it again.

I'm determined to finish some of the stories in my bone pile. To that end, I've been working on one that I call "Extra Credit" about a young man will graduate middle school in June. The hang up is he's not been doing his homework and his social studies teacher counts homework and 50% of the grade. He gets A's and B's on his tests, but his fall term for the class is a D. His mother wants to enroll him in a top tier prep school. But with that grade pulling his GPA down he'll never be accepted.

Need help with the finer points in MS Word

Somehow I've got an autocorrect thing going on that I don't want.

When I type -- 'll, it autocorrects to -- 'all.

I've gone to the options selection; selected proofing and the autocorrect options. Scrolling through the list presented I can't find it to delete it.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get rid of this?

My biggest problem with stories posted as serials

It used to be that a good story was posted a chapter or two at a time and I got sucked into the story and invested in the characters; then without warning, the story was abandoned. That doesn't bother me so much any more. There seems to be very few of them that have had that happen.

Mostly, when I'm out and about, I try to avoid using the restroom. There's a Walmart neighborhood store in the area that I generally have cause to be out and about in. The restrooms there are rarely busy and only once or twice have had to interact with anyone there. If I find myself in need, it's my restroom of choice.

Men in Petticoats -- All In The Cards Bea’s TV Station

It seems my muse has doomed me to write continuations of other peoples work. A couple of decades ago, there were lots of authors with their own websites. I was one of them, as was Bea. Bea was a prolific author and hosted a series of websites to display her work. The most recent is, “Bea’s TV Station”, which is still up.

Emma Anne Tate

It's Kern day Emma; it's Kern Day! Where's my Kern?

Can you tell, I'm jonesing for my Kern fix?

I started this at 11, but decided to hold off until 1:30. You posted at 1:01 so you're off the hook.
:o) ;o)

Love ya, Emma. Thanks, I can eat lunch now without that anxious stomach.

Trying out a dancers belt

I've decided to give wearing a dancer's belt at try. Not a gaff, but a true dancer's belt.

dance belt

I've only had it on for a short time, but initially, I like it. It's comfortable and does what it claims. It holds thing up, out of the way instead of squishing them down between your legs where I sit on them and they get in the way of holding my knees together.

I'm beginning to think my wife has given up objecting.

Blog About:

Author:

She seems to have become very tolerant of how I dress when I go out. First it was when we were going to the doctor for her appointments. My attire was seriously on the feminine end of androgynous even with lipstick and mascara. She twice allowed it where she used to make a fuss if I wore knee high nylons instead of socks.

Stopped by the police while en femme

Blog About:

Last week, I went to the "big city" (I live in a small town; 2500 pop.) to do some shopping. Most of the time, I dress out of the butch side of my wardrobe; women's clothes but the effect is androgynous. That allows people to see me the way they want to. I'm always surprised when they look at me and address me as a woman, but it does happen and when it does my voice doesn't shake their perception.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day.

I just posted a short story for Valentine's Day, titled, "The Valentine's Day Gift" It comes in at just over 8100 words.

Thanks to my beta reader. She assures me that I was successful in giving the story the look and feel I was after.

My Summer in Pantyhose Epilogue (final post) is up

I've just posted the final post of "My Summer in Pantyhose" It's the epilogue. It's short because, summer is over and the title of the series limits the story to that summer.

Is this the end of Jamie’s story? Are there no more adventures for Jamie, Tabitha and Mike? And what about Megan?

Obviously not. Jamie and co. have their whole life ahead of them. Where will Jamie end up; will he and Tabitha become a lifetime couple; what will Megan do after? Dear readers. Turn your imaginations loose and fill in the blanks that are the rest of their lives.

Mea Culpa...

In my master document, i misnumbered chapters resulting in two chapters 37. As a result of that, the second Chapter 37 never got posted. That resulted in a continuity error. A new member, maerga galva, called my attention the continuity error; thank you Maerga.

PC wording in the doctors notes

Blog About:

Author:

Last week, I blogged about taking my wife to the doctor. As I mentioned in that blog, I was wearing obvious women's pants and tops and had my hair fixed in a way that would lend itself to reinforce my gender presentation. The point of that blog was to highlight how relaxed my wife has become about how I'm dressed when we are out and about together.
