its been more like soggy June so far!
Three days in and it's been a real mixed bag of weather, sun, rain and a good dose of wind - not great but it could be worse - the rain here hasn't come to much and its been reasonably warm.
So how has the week gone? The bike being serviced up on Sunday left Monday 'free' which in reality meant a walk to get an IKEA lunch followed by - well not the writing i had planned but at least some plot planning so it wasn't a dead loss.
Tuesday looked a bit iffy again after overnight dampness so i settled on a variation of the short Bath excursion, this time taking in a 'lane' that was so steep, wet and rocky that i ended up pushing the bike for a good half its length. The good news was that it was only about 400m in total so not too bad.
And so to today. a bit cooler, damper and windier but apart from a late leg stretch, most of the day was spent writing another Gaby chapter, now up on Patreon. The current story arc is massive and seems to want to keep growing with new twists and plots at every turn. Usually a Gaby book runs to 40 chapters / @ 100k words, this one is already at 50 chapters and i've plot enough to potentially double that, i'm in a quandry to say the least. For now i'll keep on writing, there is a plot twist that only Patreons will be aware of that could potentially be a third volume or part of the current multiplicity. Anyhow, i'll be writing again before i head north and i'll be cracking on as soon as i return so watch this space.
That writing may well resume tomorrow but on Friday it will be a reasonable bike ride with a visit to Tyntesfield House and gardens, another NT property a short distance from Brizzle. Saturday will be final prep and packing for my trip, i'm at the trepidation stage now, keen to get on with what will be my longest bike trip since 2019! And i can't quite believe it but in July it will be the 50th, yep, 50th anniversary of me riding my first bike race and going from casual bike riding to getting properly stuck in! Geez, how the time flies when you're enjoying yourself.
I'll be back at the weekend with more May Queen but until then,
Adios,
Madeline Anafrid

April Showers in June?
We had a lot of rain Sunday night. The first real wetness for two months. It brought the snails out in force.
I had a load of logs scheduled to be delivered Monday AM. When it arrived, so did the hail. The driver of the log lorry got soaked by the time he'd unloaded them all over my back yard. I quickly covered them with a tarp and brewed some coffee.
The sun came out later and I started stacking them. I've moved around 500 logs so far mostly using my right hand as my left is painful with the arthritis. I seem to be having a side effect of the drugs that I'm taking. My BP has gone haywire. The top line is fine but the lower reading is low. 120/59 seems to be the new norm. Sigh. Still a work in progress.
Ride safe on your trip to GOC. I will be up there in a couple of weeks visiting an old friend in Leeds after a weekend on the 'Little Trains of Wales' especially the Tallylyn as it is its 75th anniversary this year. I'm also visiting the Corris Railway and the Vale of Rheidol.

Flaming June here for me
Its been so hot that a few days ago I actually almost fainted. Needless to say the episode sent my fiance into a panic filled frenzy. Context... she lost her dad last year when he seemed to have woken up gone through his routine and was later found by my fiance after he had passed from a stroke. With me the doctor told me it was likely heat and dehydration. I had to sit in the hospital for an IV and was told to rest for the next few days and make sure i drink a lot of fluids daily. My fiance ofcourse took that to mean I needed full bedrest and was not allowed to leave the bedroom... lol. All is fine now but the monsoon season really needs to come soon cos this heat is really going to melt me down into swiss cheese.
