BTW in 5 days it is the anniversary of the Milwaukee Braves winning the World Series

Today is 1 day after the anniversary of Sputnik, the first artificial satellite

I sat on the floor in my living room as the live feed of the fledgling NASA’ s answer to Sputnik was “beaming” from our Black and White Sylvania TV.

It captured the rocket carrying the Vanguard satellite barely lifted off the launching pad before falling sideways and exploding.
