Robyn was getting ready to leave when SWAT was called to de-escalate a situation down at the new coffee shop called The Coffee Bean.
According to the caller, the situation was between ICE agents trying to do their job and an armed private security force preventing them from doing it. She hated when SWAT had to get involved in a situation between ICE and the citizens of California.
When SWAT arrived, Robyn spotted the private armed security force wearing class six body armor, surrounding the ICE agents. The guns she didn’t recognize, but the painted patch on the body armor she did, and she knew these guys didn’t play games or take prisoners either.
“What do you want to do, Sergeant?” Robyn was still new to the SWAT group she had been assigned to.
Sergeant Williams looked at Robyn and knew she knew a lot about things that went on in L.A.
“What do you know about that group?” Williams had never encountered them.
“They are a private security group owned by The Chaos Company. They’re called Alpha Security Command and provide private security, and are mercs as well. They have top-of-the-line equipment and all their people are either retired special forces or retired military, and I don’t just mean our special forces or military either, Serg. Some of their members are former SAS agents.”
“Fuck! British special forces? How are we supposed to compete with that? Those guys are as deadly as Delta Force and our Navy Seals.”
“Oh, trust me. The organization has the resources to give to every Alpha squad.” Robyn knew Gina Bounty was a member of the company.
“Let’s see what the situation is before we do anything stupid.” Williams didn’t like this.
He and Robyn walk towards the leader of the squad and the head ICE agent. He looks at the two men as they face off.
“What’s going on here, gentlemen?” Sergeant Williams looked towards both men when he spoke.
“I want him arrested for interfering in official Federal business.” Agent Harrison looks towards Williams and the red-haired woman standing near him. He didn’t recognize either officer.
“And why won’t you allow ICE to perform their Federal duty, Mr.?”
“Captain Jones, and because we were called in to protect this business and the people inside from them.” Jones looks towards the SWAT officer and the woman standing near him.
Robyn just kept watching everything. She wanted to know why ICE was terrorizing the coffee shop.
“Who inside called, Captain Jones?” Sergeant Williams wanted to know who called Alpha Security Command.
“A member of the Bounty family. She’s the owner of this establishment, and she felt threatened by these guys' presence.”
Robyn heard the Bounty name and knew if there was a member of that family inside. This ICE agent would be signing his death certificate if he didn’t back off.
“Do you have the proper warrant to enter this establishment, Mr. Harrison?” Williams knew ICE never had the proper warrant to enter places.
“I don’t need one.” Agent Harrison looks at the SWAT commander when he says that.
“Actually, you do agent or you open yourself up for a lawsuit or something worse.” Robyn finally spoke.
Agent Harrison sneers at Robyn, “I don’t have to have anything if I think there are illegals in that shop.”
Captain Jones smirks when he hears that nonsense. He couldn’t believe how stupid this ICE agent was.
“Unfortunately, you do need a legal warrant, Mr. Harrison, and if you can’t play by the rules. I’ll have to do my legal duty and take you and your men in.” Sergeant Williams looks directly into Mr. Harrison’s eyes when he says that.
Robyn noticed how angry Mr. Harrison was getting and how his hand was inching closer and closer to his sidearm.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Robyn was ready to strike.
Harrison looked towards Robyn and noticed she had moved close to him. She didn’t have her hand near a weapon or anything.
“You think you stop, girlie?” Harrison sneered at her.
A sinister smile appears on Robyn’s face. “Oh, I know I can, and I can also make it so you are never able to use that hand again.”
Harrison looked at Robyn and saw she meant it. He didn’t want to back down, because that would mean they one, but he didn’t have any other options. He looks over his shoulder towards the front door of the shop, “This isn’t over.”
Captain Jones shakes his head, “It is for you, and if you try anything, you'd better do it legally or….”
Jones just lets his words hang. He wants Harrison to understand he is dealing with a deadly predator. And that predator doesn’t let his victims live.
Captain Jones gives the signal to let the ICE agents walk away. Sergeant Williams turned and looked towards Robyn. “What did you see?”
“He was inching for his sidearm. I would have gotten to him before he pulled it, Serge.” A sweet smile appears on Robyn’s face.
Williams just shakes his head as he watches Harrison and his ICE agents walk away. He was going to make sure they left before pulling his people out. He looks towards Captain Jones. “How long are you going to remain, Captain?”
“Until the shop closes, and I’ll post guards here to look over the place.” Captain Jones hopes Harrison doesn’t come and try to break in.
Amy had recorded everything and waited until the ICE agent walked away before she unlocked the door. She steps outside of it, “Thank you for your protection, gentlemen. If you would like some coffee and pastries, it’s on the house.”
“Thank you, ma’am, but we need to get back. Have a nice day.” Sergeant leads his people back to their armored car.
“How about you and your people, Captain? Would your people like some coffee, tea, or cold drinks and pastries?” Amy felt it was the least she could do.
Captain Jones looks at his people, “Who wants coffee and pastries?”
Several hands went up. One person yells, “Do you have tea?”
“Yes, we do.” A smile appears on Amy’s face.
She escorts everyone inside and lets her patrons leave. She could tell some of them were upset, but were thankful for the protection they got.
