Dot the Magician - A Dream
I'm posting this as a story rather than a blog, cause I think its worthy. You guys will have to decide what you think
This is what I dreamed ...
I had been commanded by unseen forces to write the story of a man and a woman. The man was water, and the green plants that grew in it. The woman was fire, and a snake, burning and biting any who came too close.
As I wrote, using symbols I have never seen in my waking world, I realized I wasn't just making a story, I was casting a spell, one to bring the man and woman together without harming each other.
I wrote for a while, then I found the formula. I turned the man into a tree, his roots drinking deep from the water he was once part of. And I turned the woman into the leaves, fire red and gaining strength from the sun, and the branches, twisting this way and that but always connected to the tree, sharing the life giving energy of the sun.
Having been successful the forces told me my job was done, and I awoke.
Make of this what you will

I have to say, Dotty, that made me cry, but good tears, if you know what I mean.
I need to go and lie down and think about the undercurrents in that story, but I absolutely loved it.

"Lately it occurs to me..
what a long strange trip its been."
good tears
I am really glad you liked it, hon.
You can
Dot the magician, but don't cross the wizard! :)
Hugs,

giggles, Erin
or maybe that should be "ouch!"
Good magic, Dot!
It sounds like you have been delving into elemental personality types. Sometimes we mix them in relationships — air people and fire people, for example. But for those of us on the trans spectrum, I imagine the mix can sometimes be more internal, just as the “battle of the sexes” can be a bit of a civil war. I like your solution to the conundrum!

thanks Emma
but honestly, this just came to me while sleeping. I have no idea from where . . .
Jung might say . . .
Carl Jung might say the dream came from the collective unconscious, not your personal subconscious. That would certainly be the realm for archetypes. :)

in the dream I was making calligraphy
with symbols instead of names for the man and woman, drawn almost like a painting. the man being the water lily and the woman being the fiery snake seems kind of reversed to me, but what do I know?
Who would win?
In a fight to the death between a Fire Elemental and a Polonium Elemental, who (if either) would win?
Also, here's an xkcd cartoon: https://xkcd.com/965 .

in the comics there was a character called Mr. 104
who could control the 104 elements known at the time.
he ended up in a nice relationship with a radioactive character - so maybe instead of fighting the two elementals could fall in love!
Best Outcome
That would be one of the better outcomes. Maybe become friends. Maybe even friendly enemies.

Dream
You did your job, you solved your problem, and then you awoke.
Sigh, I wish I dreamed like that.

huggles, Daphne
you apparently can control your dreams look up "lucid dreaming".
me, I let things happen, because sometimes, I get a story out of it.
Unfortunately
I can't control my dreaming and the dreams are mostly anxiety dreams.
I still remember a part of a dream from at least a decade ago, where I was definitely prepared for an exam. The dream blatantly reality-shifted on me to leave me hopelessly unprepared.
