During the next few days, my mind kept going through various scenarios that could explain the pictures. I thought first a sister, no he knew both, a cousin possibly but I still needed to figure out why I had the pictures. I thought that I was coming up with a plausible story when my sister mentioned to me that she had talked to Sam a few weeks ago. She said he sounded a bit lonely and they talked a bit and he wanted to know if she still had that lovely necklace that he and his wife had given to her.

At that point I knew that he knew the whole story since I had borrowed that necklace from her without her knowing it and wore that necklace in one of the pictures. I was sort of a relieved to know that he did know and did not mention anything to her.

Now that I had the full understanding of the situation, I decided to give Sam a call. I was keen to understand the meaning of his message of wanting to meet Barbara (my fem name). When I called, I first started with small talk and then let him lead the conversation.

He started by again apologizing for snooping on the files but said that the woman in the pictures drew him in and he couldn’t stop looking at them. He then said that after looking at them a couple of times he saw the necklace and things began to fall into place. There was a long pause after this revelation. He then said that he then noticed the similarity and was even more intrigued and made a decision to ask me to meet her if at all possible.

I took a moment to think about what he said before I came back with answer, I then said that I could arrange a video chat with her and him in about a week to discuss this further. He readily agreed and said he would be waiting for it. I thanked him and we said our good byes.

At this point I was not totally sure of how to proceed but I had the feeling that he did truly want to meet Barbara. I sent him an email giving him instructions on how we would proceed with the video chat. One of the things that I stated was that she was my sister and I was going to let her make all the decisions. He replied with “great and asked when will I get to see her?”.
