Once back at Sam’s place Sam got out his Ipad and started browsing through it while I put away my things and changed out of my dress and underwear. I came out wearing a pair of shorts and a silk blouse along with fresh undies. I then sat down in the recliner next to Sam and watched him go through a few screens on his Ipad.
As I had mentioned to Sam that I was interested in pursuing my time as a woman while working, he had been looking at some sites, and now suggested that I might look into interviewing on a casual basis. As I was pondering this, he showed me on his Ipad a general notice for a large open career fair expo that was being held just south of where we were.
The job fair was in a rather cosmopolitan area and directed at people with backgrounds in sales, marketing, finance, accounting and other similar career paths. He suggested that if I was really considering this, I might want to at least visit it. Since it was the next day, I had to decide rather quickly and thought that I might as well try.
I took his Ipad and on opening the website, I found that there was a registration section and that personal data needed to be entered. I also saw that the closing time for this registration was only a couple of hours away. Looking at the registration openings, I saw that there were only a few, either for early morning or just before closing. Not the best times for a job seeker since the early mornings would not have all the desks manned and the later time slots would not allow for much time for talking with recruiters.
Not really being desperate for a position I decided to go with the later time period and face the traffic and limited time that the slots had available. I also figured that the experience of the job fair would overwhelm me and I might not be able to do any interviews any ways so that the time slot suited me. That being the case and the clock was ticking I started entering my personal data.
Of course, I entered my feminine name and gender but I kept my male educational background and work history. Sam offered his address as my location but I kept my cell phone number. With a click I was entered into their data base and immediately received a confirmation message. I already had a resume that I could easily alter with a change of pronouns and name.
This now left me with planning my wardrobe for the afternoon and arranging my time for tomorrow. I chose to wear a Japanese Coral (color) skirt suite with an off-white blouse and low heel pumps. With the wardrobe selected I went with my normal foundation to include a waist cincher. Sam did remind me that I should print up some resume’s and take a portfolio to carry them. Fortunately, he had a black leather one that I could borrow.
Planning for all eventualities I put together my spare makeup case with any essentials that I might need to freshen up my look if I got delayed coming back since I always wanted to appear to Sam as an attractive woman. I was able to stuff in a few extra items to include wig care products. Since I was going to wear my human hair wig, I felt the quality of it would last through any problems that I might have. I placed the items in the car prior to preparing for bed.
The next morning went zooming by fast. Once out of bed I examined my glued labia creation between my legs and found it was still holding quite well. Knowing the faux vaginal panty would be a bit warm to wear all day I decided not to use it after I went for my morning jog. Completing my morning exercise routine, I stripped and showered. After the shower I re-attached my hip pads, checked my breast attachment and did a little bit of work on my labia creation. Once done I donned my wig slipped on, panties, yoga pants, bra and a short sleeve shirt.
Sam was up and already having breakfast by the time I walked in. Since I had changed my resume and sent it to his email, I asked him to print up some copies for me. He agreed, and after finishing my breakfast I cleaned up the kitchen and went to start my prep work. I looked at the clock and mentally went over what I need to be doing to be out the door by 1:30 so I could be there for my appointments between 2:00 and 3:00. Knowing I was going to be doing a bit of walking but wanting to look professional, I decided to go with a low-heeled stiletto pump.
I won’t go through all of missteps that I went through in just getting ready but there were a few. From pre makeup prep, makeup, moving of prosthetics, wig placement, dressing and accessorizing I just got out the door by 1:15. As I was getting into the car Sam came out with my portfolio with my resumes that he had printed out which I had forgotten on the table. He then wished me luck. I blew him a kiss and I was off.
I was at the function early enough to drive around to find a decent parking space that would allow myself time to calm my anxious feelings. As I was driving around looking for a place to park, I noticed that there was an outlet mall only a block away from the venue. Since it was close, I decided to look in there for a space to park.
The parking lot extended out towards the venue and as I drove closer to that area I noticed that there were other people either approaching cars from the venue or heading from cars in that direction. This was a good indication that it was a suitable place to park. Once parked I took a good five minutes to check my voice pitch against the gender voice app and got all marks as female. This helped boost my confidence as I gathered my purse, keys, and portfolio to leave the car.
Prior to getting out of the car I looked around at the signs for the outlet and decided that I might as well indulge myself in a shopping adventure while I was there. As I got out of the car and began to walk toward the venue, I felt my anxiety pulling me back towards the car and running away. This was heightened as two other women coming from the venue approached me.
Having nowhere to hide I concentrated on my feminine walk and made sure that I kept the pace slow. The women were engaged in a conversation between themselves and hardly even noticed me. With this I began to relax and I could feel the tension being released as I walked towards the entrance.
Fortunately, the venue was well airconditioned which helped, as my anxiety had caused me to become a bit overheated. I timidly approached the welcome table where an older lady sat busily arranging name tags and working on a computer. It took a moment for her to notice me and then with just briefly looking up asked for my name.
Barbara Zell, I told her and she quickly picked up a name badge and a small packet of papers and handed them to me. She then asked for a copy of my resume which I handed to her. She then smiled and pointed towards the door that led to the event and went back to working on her screen.
This non recognition actually relaxed me more as she took me as just another woman entering the event that needed no other recognition. Looking over the sheet that I had been handed, I found that I had 3 interviews (show up and talk at the table) scheduled. There was a map to each of the table sites and I proceeded to the first.
The place was a buzz with people looking for new positions. With my confidence up I walked over to my first interview table. An elderly lady gave me the once over smiled and asked if there was a specific position that I was interested in. We talked for a bit and my voice seemed to allay any doubts as to my femininity as the lady seemed to be more relaxed as we talked. She asked for my resume and placed it in a folder and offered her hand as she thanked me for stopping by. I took her hand and made sure that my touch was very light and soft.
The lady already had another person talking to her as I turned away and seemed to accept my presentation as a woman as she made no signs of reading me that I could tell. Since the floor of the hall was tiled, so I could hear the click of my heels as I moved away from the table. The noise of hall though muffled the sound so I couldn’t fully appreciate their sound.
Before going on I was felt the call of nature and began looking for a toilet. Unfortunately, there were only the general male and female restrooms with no indication of unisex or individual handicap. As I made my way over to the area, I saw that two other women had started a que for the rest room. Since my waist cincher was putting a stress on my bladder, I decided that I might as well join the que.
Fortunately, the wait was not long and I quickly found an open stall which I went into. With the door shut I pulled down my panties and thanked myself for going with stockings instead of panty hose. During my last gluing I had attached a disposable latex urinal catheter on my glued penis tip that directed urine down and allowed for a noisy tinkle as I sat and relieved myself. After wiping my area, I pulled up my panties arranged myself, flushed and left the stall.
There was a long counter with sinks and only one other woman at one end fixing her hair. I moved to the side opposite of her washed my hands and took a moment to look over my face and hair. Since there were only the two of us there at the counter, I took a moment to refresh my lipstick. While doing this another lady came out of the stall, placed her bag next to my portfolio on the counter and moved in before the next sink.
I had watched her in the mirror as she approached the counter and my eyes were drawn to the cream ruffled blouse that she wore with a grey skirt suit. She seemed to notice that I took interest in her as I turned my head after applying my lipstick. From somewhere inside my feminine mind, I quickly formulated a greeting and told her that I loved the cream ruffled blouse that she was wearing and asked her where she got it.
She smiled and told me she got it at Nordstrom’s. She then complimented me on my portfolio and said she should have gotten one to hold her resumes. As she washed her hands, she noticed my low heel stilettos and said that she should have gone with the low heel instead of the matching grey shoes with a 3-inch heel since her calves were already aching. I replied that fashion can hurt sometimes and with that we both laughed.
As I had already put away my lipstick I shouldered my purse, grabbed my portfolio then wished my new acquaintance good luck with her job search. She turned, wished me the same and returned to fixing herself for the next interview. I left the room feeling a bit lighter after that conversation since it reaffirmed both my voice and presentation as female.
There being about five minutes before my next appointment I took time to relish in presenting myself as a woman within this setting. Most of the people at the expo were busy with their presentations so I took time to examine how the other women around me had dressed and presented themselves. For the most part they were in conservative business dress although a couple of younger women were showing off their female attributes with tight skirts and plunging neck lines.
My second interview seemed like a waste of time though (or would have if I was actively pursuing a job) and was definitely anticlimactic. I got to the table and had to wait for a couple of minutes while a young guy finished talking with another man. He then approached me, asked for my resume, and ticked my name off his clipboard. He thanked me for coming by and then turned to a man standing next to me and started asking him about his background. I now knew how it felt to be ignored by being a female applicant by what I considered as a male chauvinist.
With that I moved on to my last interview. As this was towards the closing of the days event (albeit still early in the afternoon) most of the people were heading out of the site and a few of the stalls were closing down. The last interview I actually had hoped to get something out of. It had advertised that it was offering temporary and contract positions. I was thinking that I might be able to do a couple of contract positions from home while presenting myself as a woman.
With a bit of anticipation, I approached the table and an older woman approached me and said that I must be Barbara and thanked me for stopping by. She then told me that she thought that I might fit into one or two of the positions that they had from reading my limited online resume.
She then went on to ask about my background and I gave her a thumbnail sketch of my accounting and auditing work. Once I had told her about my background, she asked for my resume to look over. Having taken a couple of minutes to review it she said that I might want to talk with her HR person as they might have something for me and that as we both went to the same university, we might have some things in common.
With that she turned towards another woman whom I just now noticed that was working at a computer with her back to me. I heard the interviewing woman hand her my resume and ask her if she would like to talk with me. The lady at the computer took a moment, reviewed my resume and I heard that she would be delighted to talk to me.
Hearing her voice made a shock go through me, I knew this woman, and I knew her intimately. Her name was Cindy and just by her distinctive voice I knew who she was. A moment of fear went over me and I was frozen at the spot and really couldn’t move. She approached me and sort of gave me a once over as if she recognized me, then caught herself and introduced herself as Cindy from human resources.
I was able to focus on the moment and smile and offered my hand saying that I was Barbara. She then took it and asked if we had met before? My answer was there was always the possibility. She then began asking about more in-depth questions about my work background. All of the questions were gender neutral so I had no problem with answering them truthfully. Slowly I began to relax as I felt that she did not recognize me even though we had had, two intimate encounters.
After going through the questions relating to work, she asked me about the classes that I took at the university and who were my instructors. She said we might have had a class or two together as my resume showed that we were there at about the same time. She was right in that we attended about the same time, although I had already graduated and was working on my CPA while working near the university.
Cindy and I had met at a friend’s function and it was because we found out that we had the same month and day of birth that there might be something between us. Our relationship lasted for about 4 months when we broke it off due to both of us deciding that the relationship was going nowhere. I had her over at my apartment overnight once or twice while we were a couple.
I became more relaxed as we talked and it was about near closing time of the expo when Cindy stated that there was definitely an opportunity for me with their company. I told her I could hardly wait for the offer and she said she would work on it the next day. She then asked if she could SMS me about getting together. Without really thinking I said of course and that my number was on the resume.
She said she would be in touch, offered her hand then said she hoped to see me soon. With that she turned toward the other woman that had talked with me and started a discussion. Feeling a bit pumped about the whole experience (assumed she took me as another woman) I casually strolled away from the table and took my time going to the door.
