Portal hopping / magic caused the gang to gain new abilities - what if the magic used for his temporary transformation has also had some lingering effect?

Magic aside, as someone pointed out in the comments to the last episode, Sarah had her friends around her for support when she was discovering her abilities and getting used to her new appearance (likewise, they had each other when discovering their new abilities). George has now been shown a selection of Sarah's memories, been temporarily transformed into a girl, and been dumped by his wife. He's got a lot to think about, including the possibility of some of his own memories which he's locked away and protected with the mental equivalent of "NO ENTRY!" and "NO TRESPASSING!" signs plus plenty of barbed / razor wire. Unfortunately this is creating a lot of internal conflict, which in turn is making him extremely irritable. He really could do with help to make a decent fresh start, before he drinks himself into oblivion.
