Welcome back, Bobby.
And you too, Heather! A great chapter, picking up as if you had never been gone, and continueing to get deeper and more serious.
Hugs
Jan
Liberty is more than the freedom to be just like you.
Re: Welcome back, Bobby.
In a dark, undefined space, an overhead spotlight slowly brightens, revealing a young, girlish boy (or perhaps boyish girl) with slightly wavy, shoulder-length brunette hair wearing a plain red t-shirt, blue jeans, and black canvas sneakers tied in pretty double bows.
Thanks for the welcome, Jan. It's been a long time and I've missed being here. I think Heather is probably as surprised as me that people still remember me.
Through the magic of the suspension of disbelief, Bobby reaches out to Jan and hugs her tight. Then she smiles shyly and waves to all the other readers before wandering into the shadows.

More chapters
It is great that you are continuing bobbys story. Hope to see more.
Nice to see you bring Bobby back
I liked reading about Bobby and then he suddenly went away. Its a refeshing story. I myself don't like to write continuing stories, but I do like certain stories and this is one of them.
Glad you picked it up and ran with it again. Thank You Heather

A welcome return
Welcome back Heather.
Bobby was missed. It's great to see you haven't lost your touch. Sweet, funny and serious all at once. Did miss seeing the mom in this chapter. The revelation that Bobby's dream about dad in a dress was not totally a dream was clever.

Thank you for the welcome!
The dark scene with the bright spotlight fades back into view. A familiar child's voice speaks from the darkness.
Heather?
Another, less familiar voice answers.
Which Heather?
Ermm . . . the older one?
*giggling* She don't usually wake up until she's at work.
Oh, how 'bout the younger one then?
Nope! You got one more guess left.
Hey, that's not fair! You didn't tell me I only had three guesses.
I'm sorry. So have ya figgered who I am yet, Bobby?
Uhhh . . . Heather Rose?
Woo hoo! You got it!
There's a sound of someone bumping into something solid.
Ouch!
You okay, Heather Rose?
I'll survive. Just walked into the coffee table.
Think maybe it might be better if there was more light?
Yeah. I ain't exactly sure how to do it, though.
Ain't you a writer?
Well, sorta. It kind of a . . . I wish Heather was awake. She's better with big words. What I'm tryin' to say it's more of a bunch of us workin' together to make a story.
-collaborative-
Oh thank you CORI*! That sounds like the word I was tryin' to remember.
So, you can't get more light in here?
I dunno. Lemme give it a try.
The spotlight slowly fades as ambient light fills a nicely furnished living room. Standing in the middle of the room are two children: Bobby and Heather Rose. Heather Rose appears to have a strong family resemblance to Bobby. With their similar heights, one might mistake them for twins on first glance.
There are subtle yet distinctive differences. Heather Rose has a thinner, pixie-like face as well as more willowy arms. Her eyes are a bright sky blue to Bobby's greyish blue eyes. Her longer hair has more reddish highlights and is usually up in pigtails.
Bobby is dressed as before. Heather Rose is wearing a pair of pink shortalls over a white, short-sleeved top with tiny ruffles around the sleeves and collar. On her feet are a pair of frilly white anklet socks and pink sneakers with Hello Kitty on the sides.
Oh wow . . . I did it!
By yourself?
Well, CORI* helped a lot. We prolly woulda done better if one of the Heathers had helped.
Bobby looks around the living room, then jumps with surprise when she notices Jan, Joanne, Jill, John [Wow, four J names?] and the other readers.
Looks like we got an audience, Heather Rose. Was there somethin' ya wanted to say?
Oh! Uh, yeah.
Heather Rose blinks nervously. Bobby takes her hand and gives it a reassuring squeeze.
Ummm . . . I guess I mostly wanna say thank you for the welcome back. I'm really glad you're enjoying Bobby's story. He --
Heather Rose blushes a bright pink. Bobby just smiles and squeezes her hand again.
It's okay. I'm still getting used to the change myself.
Heather Rose kisses Bobby's cheek.
I mean she is special to me, and knowing people really seem to care about her and look forward to hearing more about her really means a lot.

Bobby's 11
Well it is here and it is great. I'd forgotten many of the details so it was a great opportunity to read it again from the beginning.
Most interesting comment
It will be interesting to see how you flesh out Daddy compared to Father.

Re: Bobby's 11
Actually, she's only ten. *wink*
But seriously, I'm so glad you've enjoyed the story so far. One of the reasons I'd taken so long to continue writing is Bobby's father has had some . . . well, difficult experiences growing up, which I really wasn't ready or willing to get too deep into. There may be some bits I may decide to include, but I don't wanna make this become a story about Bobby's father.

I have just one wish about this story
My wish is that Bobby won't make us wait so long before the next diary entry.
I'm glad to see that the moose is sitting on your shoulder once more, Heather Rose.

It usually comes back to you.

Return of the Moose
Heather Rose squeals excitedly at the sight of her aunt and runs up to give her a big hug.
I'm glad my moose has returned too. :D I'm definitely gonna do my best to not wait so long to write the next chapter.

You've been missed.
It's nice to have another installment of this lovely story.

Glad There's More...
Still a warm, rewarding story to read. Looking forward to seeing it all fit together now that we're getting some of the missing information.
Really interesting that Joan knew how Robert was dressed, since Bobby wasn't aware that he'd ever met Joan before last Sunday. If Joan was still around the family when Bobby was two, Terri would have been six then. I'm sure Terri never saw Robert cross-dressed, but she might have known Bobby when he was a baby.
Eric
But wait, there's more!
I'm glad you've enjoyed the latest chapter, Eric. I've started the next chapter and promise to not take as long finishing it as I did with this chapter. You've done some good deducting about Aunt Joan and her relationship to Bobby's parents.
I have a basic outline of how Bobby past as well as the past of those who currently are or who have been an important part of her life. It will depend mostly on how much I'll need to move things along without getting too bogged down in details.

I can so relate
to the difference between Daddy and Father, but for me it was Mommy and mother, and unfortunately there was never a way to go back to Mommy. I had almost read all of this when I had a computer crash and I couldn't find all of the stories I had open, glad I found this again.
Mommy and Daddy ...
can be really special names for really special people. I'm glad you were able to find this story again. I hope you enjoy the rest of the chapters! :)
Daddy Returned
... that one day. And gymnastics?
As for bikes and training wheels, when I was a young child I was off my training wheels long before they came off. When I biked, both wheels were off the ground, but still there.
EDIT: Shoot, I had written an earlier comment on my home computer, planning to paste it here. I plumb forgot. Another memory-nightmare about Father. I remember the occasional scene from when I was two. To tell the truth, I wonder how much is imagination substituting for memory.
-- Daphne Xu
Bobby's bike riding memory ...
... is based mostly on my own memory. While my dad didn't do a running leap to rescue me, I did sorta lose control of my bike. It was an exciting, then terrifying experience. But ... I survived, so it all worked out in the end. :)
