The hurricane flooding of Houston, TX and surrounding areas.

Blog About:

Author:

Hi all,
I learned this yesterday after listening to the Attorney General of Texas telling a news reporter how to describe the current disaster area within Texas.

He said to give a person an idea of the massive area size being flooded, here is how to do it; so for all of you who live elsewhere in the world or even the USA;
Find your own location on a map of your city or nation. Pinpoint it, then draw a circle radiating out 200 square miles (321.869 kilometers) in ALL directions of the circle.

THAT is how big the area is that is presently flooded in Texas.

Today was the first day of the rest of my life......

Today was the first day of my new job. I recently accepted a position as Director of Transportation for Belk Stores, which those of you who live in the Southeast US may recognize. I spent about half of my day in orientation, completing paperwork, and meeting people. The other half I spent discussing the position and the direction they are looking to go. I sincerely love my boss! He has basically given me Carte Blanche to do what I want as long as I get them their numbers.

Apology to all

I wish to apologize to everyone regarding my double comments in the story comments section. I have done everything I can think of and even what others have thought of, and I still cannot stop these double comments from happening. What really makes hard, is once in awhile, I will think the issue is cleared up, because I only get one, then suddenly "here we go again" appears.
So I have come to the conclusion I either don't comment (which I really do not want to do) or just go with seeing the doubles show up.

misjudgment?

Author:

it's strange how you can misjudge people.

I recently reposted one of those things on FB, i'm sure some of you saw it, the subject was essentially transgender use of toilets. Well much to my surprise, a friend i've known for about 20 years of work and leisure posted a reply saying it worried her which was quite unexpected as she's of very liberal politics and IME deeds. That in itself didn't bother me, each to their own.

Invisible stories

Author:

A couple of times recently a story / chapter page has had everything appear on it, except the actual chapter. All of the comments added have been there, so that I can see what I was missing, which only adds frustration to the mystery. The only recourse was to abandon the link and come back to it hours later. Is it only me (not) seeing this? Other posted items and links work, it isn't a blanket effect on the site.

But for the most part, I feel more comfortable than I ever have in my body,” says Manuel, who underwent gender-reassignment surgery, becoming the first boxer in U.S. history to fight first as a woman and later as a man.

Speaking Of Rereading Bailey

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

Well, while I'm incapacited I've been rereading a number of Bailey's stories, they hold up well in the rereading, if I do say so myself!

I was rereading "Images" and I discovered that Chapter 55 is missing. I checked with Bailey and discovered that not only is 55 missing, Bailey lost the backup when there was a computer crash.

The Complete Ovid Stories by The Professor now available at the Internet Archive

Blog About:

Author:

With the permission of The Professor, I created an omnibus collection of his Ovid stories, and uploaded them to the Internet Archive. The files are in .ePub, .awz3, .mobi, and .pdx. I'll be looking into what would be involved in making them available via the Nook and Kindle stores as free eBooks. I'm open to suggestions as to other eBook distribution sites that might be likely to be visited by readers of transformation fiction.

Attention Erin and BCTS crew

Author:

I've just posted The Mystery of the Girl in the Garden, By Andrea. This one includes art work. I some how had forgotten that I posted the story before, sans art work. I thought had only posted links to my defunct web site. Is there anyway you guys can delete the older version. While you're at it you may as well delete all the other old Petticoat Detective Adventure series as I will be posting the full versions.

A Petticoat Detective Squad Adventure

Author:

Today I've posted the first of the Petticoat Detective Squad Adventure series. When I first posted these on my now defunct web site, I Americanized the spelling, but here I have left them exactly as written. I intend this as a kind of memorial for Andrea.

I will endeavor to format and post one story a week. I hope you enjoy them.

greetings from Outer er Andorra

Hi folks
the keen amongst you may have spotted a new Gaby chapter has been posted.

You may also have noticed that the posting is a bit, er basic.

Well my excuse is its been posted from a laptop with a mind of its own when it comes to scroll controls and getting this far has been interesting!

So enjoy the words, i'll get it properly formatted when I've got a properly user friendly interface.

Anyhow, after a two day journey we arrived in the Pyrenees, had my first view of the Med on the way and we're just enjoying some downtime before dinner.

getting jiggy

Well i'm getting a bit jiggy on three fronts this weekend.

First is the possibility that Chris Froome will, in less than 48 hours take his 4th TdeF title. Yep, just 22km remain to affect the result - no one's daft enough to race on Sunday other than the sprinters. The race hasn't exactly been action packed, the loss of some exciting riders early on has coloured that but it certainly shouldn't detract from the achievement.

The Story is???

Looking for a story in which a colony is made of teenagers away from earth in a ship like thing. The inhabitants of the ship are given a device in which they can have the body of their own will just for one year. After one year they can make changes again. The help in locating the story will really be appreciated. Thank You

Even the Queen

Here is a brief story that puts a somewhat different spin on cycling. And on patriarchy, oppression, liberation, and all the rest of it. Not quite like Angharad’s EAFOAB or other cycling fiction, and written by a Hugo-winning scifi author, so I do hope you enjoy it.

The Media News should change come Monday morning.

Well if we are lucky come Monday Morning all anyone around the water cooler will be talking about will be Game of Thrones, because the new season airs Sunday night.

I will welcome the break from everything else, sadly it will only last for 6-7 weeks then the season ends and it will meter out from there, since speculation for the final season will have to wait for next year.

Head, meet wall. Repeat

I've been going nuts this week. I had another chapter to River ready to post on Monday or so. Eric got it back to me on Friday. Unfortunately there was an electrical storm on Thursday night, and it blew up my computer. The repair guy says that the power supply was toast, and the components inside melted, although nothing serious was destroyed (like the hard disk).

Good Days and Bad

Monday was okay and yesterday was quite productive but today - well today has been less good. Its four weeks tomorrow that Mum died, four weeks ago today the last time I spoke with her, we just made the usual noises of goodbye, nothing different to thousands of times before, I somehow feel guilty for not saying more, a simple 'love you' or parent/child kiss. But that's not my family's way and I feel that I've been robbed of that intimacy, its not going down the same with #1, we are much more huggers.

I'm planning on a few stories in other societies with other gender systems. I'm trying to figure out how to refer to these genders. If I use contemporary English words, then people will get the wrong idea.

Can't take you up in the gyrocopter as ours are single person aircraft. However knowing you are a "water person" I probably ought to invite you out to the lake when we take the Hobie Cat out. Rest assured you will NOT see me in a bathing suit! Past Tense! Ever "fly" over the water at 10 or 20 MPH? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RtdKC3eCek
Love your little quirky stories.

The cycling afficionados amongst you might well already know but history was made today in Düsseldorf.

In a totally unexpected result nearly man Geraint (G) Thomas won the opening TT stage of the TdeF by a hefty 5 seconds! The first Welsh rider to wear the Yellow Jersey he had to beat several TT world champions and indeed the recently crowned UK champion to get his Lion!

Whether by chance or design Team Sky placed 4 riders in the first ten ahead of all the other GC contenders some of whom lost more time today than Froomies winning margin last year!

My consultant has cleared me to resume exercise with immediate effect so whilst i'm still on medication for the foreseeable I can start riding again, regaining some fitness and losing some of the weight i've put on - and inches around the waist!

If I could i'd be doing a Snoopy dance!

Thank You

Yes, thank you to everyone who has offered condolences etc over the last fortnight since my mother passed away, it was very much appreciated.

We had the funeral this afternoon, a simple cremation as she wanted, the assembled mourners were largely family but also included many people from councillors to foster children whose lives she had touched.

I'm sure there will continue to be dark days but I think the darkest are past.
