I suppose getting written evidence of Stone's deception would be too much to hope for, so even with the circumstantial evidence of no prior indications of GSD and no GP / therapist / endocrinologist appointments, it would probably be virtually impossible to prove the truth (either in a court of law or via the media).
But at least if mum's back on side (perhaps she re-analysed the letter and worked it it either didn't sound like Alex or was subtly different to his normal handwriting style) he's got a chance of life outside the army. After all, although he's well qualified for the technical aspects of the mission, he wasn't too thrilled about either seducing the enemy in order to get access to the device, or killing him once access was granted.

Alex's comments were telling, as she responded to being informed of her surgeries by the nurse.
As far as I'm concerned, Stone is still a prick of the first order—even if his wife doesn't think so—and I hope he gets his just desserts.
Thanks A: you've effectively cut off (literally) Alex's chances of returning to her genetic gender, and it's going to be interesting to see how things progress from this point.

A slow, painful death is too good for these military idiots.
It would give me no greater pleasure to see Alexander go out on his mission with a platoon headed by Colonel Stone-for-brains, and have Alexander be the only one that comes back. At a minimum Colonel Stone-for-brains needs to not come back.
Fortunately, mom shows her motherly instincts and comes around, which is just what he needs right now.
Whew. A great story to have me show this much emotion about it. Thanks for writing it, and I look forward to the next chapter.

It looks like things can only get better now. I'm very optimistic that her mum will make up. She should be able to straighten her out that she's never been a transsexual, not that that's a bad thing of course.
I'm not happy with the parents' reaction but it was mostly the father. He did most of the talking and writing. I expect the mum will be much more understanding. Thank goodness.

This was serendipity for the colonel (and will eventually be serendipity for Lexi).
The colonel now has as close to the real McCoy to send on the mission as he could wish for. Lexi has ALL the necessary equipment to carry it out, and, knowing our wily, scheming authoress, will probably get to use it.
Ang will eventually allow our heroine to attain happiness, which will obviously require acceptance and enjoyment of her newly constituted female body.
I predict that Mum will accept that she still has a child who she loves regardless of her gender and Lexi will get some form of revenge on Stone after the mission is completed. In the meantime we all love to hate a villain. Boo! Hiss!

Discomfort Zone
This story just put me out of my comfort zone.
As I'm about to pass my 6 year anniversary as a registered member of this site, it's fair to say I enjoy transgender fiction. I love to see protagonists achieve acceptance, even love, and find synchronicity and harmony in their self-image. Whether or not that's happening, though, I definitely find myself empathizing with the lead character in most stories I read, for better or for worse. Perhaps it's indicative of some deficiency in my own personality, that I can so easily not only see things through a fictional character's eyes, but feel what I imagine they're feeling.
As long as there was hope that Alex/Lexi could achieve his goal and get back to where he seemed to want to be, I was happy to see this story as a comedy. But, to see his (for it is "him" as he doesn't voluntarily identify as female) hopes crushed and his future at least exchanged for another, if not stolen, it's hard to laugh.
It would be thoroughly wonderful if this was his aspiration, if he was in fact a she. But, he's not. "Her" conversion is involuntary, and something besides flesh has been taken from him. I'm sad.

Ammo and guard duty
In the early '80's I was the Unit Armorer for my Battery (I was an Artilleryman then.) I had 2 20 round M-16 magazines with 3 rounds each and one .45 magazine with 3 rounds in my arms room. These magazines were to be issued when weapons were detailed for armed guard duty. This was back during the Bader-Minhof/Red Army days in Germany.
I also hope that Alex's mother heard that asshole Stone in Alex's hospital room.

as far as the Capt.goes. I think he's paid dearly and will for yrs to come.
Col.Stone, well he's a ole core military man that takes orders and as a officer tries to make those orders work no matter his personal belief is. and anyone who's ever served in the military knows prob. several people just like him. But for what ever reason, most likely trust him to keep their butts alive. I'm guessing the Col doesnt like the idea of what's happening any better than the next.
whether or not tho...lexi might be better off as a female even if ""HE"" wasnt intending or inclined in even dressing up as a female , let alone be one. I've known a few males that way. that i thought would make great females if they had desired to do such. then ya get the ones like me. that knew i was different and still had lots of problems getting others to see it. even if i sh** and pressed their nose into it, woudlnt get it.

I'd like to know when Alex gave Todd permission to touch her? Given his attitude and actions, he'd drank more than he admitted.
Well, Todd got his reward for his attitude toward Alex and actually did get to screw her, going by the type of injuries Alex sustained. Todd screwed her so bad that Alexander no longer exists.
Lexi is fooling herself if she thinks Stone will let her cash out any time soon. He's going to manipulate her into mission after mission until she is no longer affective.
Mum being there is a real surprise. Wonder how much she heard? Or if she had to fight her husband to come see her new daughter? Hopefully Lexe has the courage to speak the truth, and not tell mum more lies.
