Unique Wear Boutique, Richmond, Va.
Jessie stood outside the simple store where Alice Green and several of her friends worked. It was simple, but it had some nice designs displayed in the windows showing their merchandise. She turns towards the sound of a motorcycle heading her way.
As it got closer to her, she noticed two people riding it. The first person she recognized right away. It was Tony, and the figure behind him was David dressed as Catherine Bach. She was wearing a helmet as they used in the old Dukes of Hazzard television show.
A smile appears on her face as she watches Tony and David stop in front of the store. David dismounts and takes her helmet off. She secures her helmet in the saddlebags on Tony’s Harley and kisses him.
“See you later, baby,” David smirks when he spots the lipstick she left on Tony’s face.
She doesn’t say anything and watches as her boyfriend drives off. She turns and smiles at Jessie, “Hi.”
A smirk appears on Jessie’s face. “Why didn’t you tell him he had lipstick on his lips?”
“Because I love when his biker buddies tease him about it.” David knew her boyfriend’s biker club didn’t mind him being gay. The Iron Hogs had three gay guys who were members of their brotherhood.
“Where are the others?” David was speaking like Catherine Bach, instead of his normal voice.
“Travis and Lucas are on their way. Nagisa said she would be a few minutes late. She had a doctor’s appointment and would get here as soon as possible.” Jessie spoke to everyone when Alice contacted her about coming to the store for additional fittings.
Travis and Lucas showed up ten minutes after David did. Travis/ Tessa was dressed more femininely and was wearing fake breasts to make herself look bigger. Jessie raises an eyebrow when she notices Tessa’s chest.
“Trying something new, Tessa?”
“Yes, I’m thinking about getting breast implants, instead of waiting for the hormones to kick in.” Tessa has been thinking about the idea for a while and mentioned it to her counselor as well.
“You do know, once your breasts start growing, you’ll have to have the ones you want removed, or you’ll have a big chest.” Jessie went through the same idea once she decided to become a woman.
“I know, but Barbara talked about it?” Tessa has been dating a woman whom she met who wanted to become a man. She was a local truck driver and had always felt she was born in the wrong body.
“As long as you two are happy, that’s all that matters.” Jessie knew Kate loved her as she was.
Jessie looks at Lucas, “How about you?”
“And Wes is fine the way we are.” Lucas loved clubbing and going to parties.
Jessie looks at her cellphone, “Well, we'd better head in.”
Just as Jessie was reaching for the door, she heard a horn honking at her. She stops and turns around to see who was honking at her and notices it was Nagisa coming towards them in her Mini Cooper.
They all wait until Nagisa parks her car. She walks towards the group. She wasn’t dressed in her goth clothing, but still looked like she was goth.
“Sorry for being late. I had a doctor’s appointment this morning.” Nagisa looks at everyone present.
“Was it anything serious?” Lucas was concerned about his friend.
“No, nothing serious. I was just getting my blood tested, and a rash that I had a few days ago.”
“What did your doctor say?” Jessie and the others walk into the store.
“She prescribed an ointment and said it wasn’t anything too serious.” Nagisa follows behind David.
Once everyone was inside the place, they noticed that the front of the store had different styles of clothing. A young woman by the name of Beth comes out to greet the ladies.
“Thanks for coming in. We need to get some new measurements and show you the new costumes we designed for you. The shoes and boots we design are taking a little time to finish, but we can still fit them properly.”
“Okay, so where would you like us to change?” Jessie wanted to get this over with.
“Sorry, also excuse the mess in the back. We are still arranging things. We just bought this shop three months ago, and we’re still renovating it.”
“No problem. The warehouse we practice in doesn’t have heat or A/C, and we’re doing the same thing. We’re lucky it has a bathroom.” David was lucky the Iron Hogs had space heaters they could use to heat their practice area and the bathrooms.
“Well, we have dressing rooms for you ladies to change into. We also have custom robes and slippers for you. Alice is running a little behind and said that we’re to go ahead and start without her.” Beth shows the ladies individual dressing rooms where they could change.
Several other young men and women join Beth and escort everyone to different areas that looked to be their workspace. Jessie had Beth as her designer. Tessa was escorted to a lanky, flaming fellow named Troy, who she found out was a Big Guns and Roses fan as well.
A girl named Casey wanted to work with Nagisa. She heard how Nagisa was into the Goth culture and wanted to know more about Nagisa. David got an older woman who loved the Dukes of Hazzard and worked at one of Cooter’s Place in Luray, VA as a salesperson. She informs David that she actually met the whole cast before many of them passed away.
Lucas’s designer was a huge guitar fan and knew who Jennie Vee was and had several songs from the band she played in. She also knew Jennie Vee was a clothes designer as well. All the designers had ideas, but wanted to run them by the band members.
Alice shows up after a few hours. She brought lunch for everyone, including those for Hidden Desires. She was exhausted from dealing with the bank, but was glad they had approved her loan request. She’s hoping the band, along with a few others they will provide clothes to pay off. All of them had every penny they owned sunk into the business, hoping that it would pay off.
“Well, how are our celebrities doing?” Alice looks at the band members as their designers stop to let them grab something to eat.
“Good. I like the designer you assigned to me.” Nagisa winks at Casey.
They were planning on getting together after she got off work tonight. She had so many ideas and things she wanted to do with Casey.
“Same here,” David spoke up next.
“Me too.” Tessa and her designer compared notes on who they thought were the best guitar players.
“I’m glad everyone is enjoying themselves. So, after lunch, I would like all of you to wear some normal clothes that we designed for you. If we have time, I would like to take some pictures of you guys wearing our designs to post on our website.” Alice hired a professional website designer to design their website.
“That sounds reasonable.” Jessie didn’t mind acting like she was a model.
After lunch, the designers pick out several outfits they had already made. Everyone changes and pretends they are models. The person who was taking their picture made suggestions to the girls and took some interesting pictures.
By the time everything was done, it was nearing six in the evening. Jessie calls her wife and informs her that she is on the way home. Kate tells her she might want to pick some dinner up, because she was running late as well.
Nagisa stays behind to take Casey out. She wanted to see if Casey was serious about what she suggested. Nagisa watched Casey as she straightened her work area.
All the other girls leave. David is picked up by her boyfriend, wearing the new outfit that her designer made. Lucas and Tessa leave together as well. Both of them were wearing the outfits their designer made. Jessie walks over to her Mustang and gets in.
She hopes her Mustang starts. She turns the key, and it starts on the first try. She puts it in gear and drives off.
