Run, Run, Run Chapter 17

Cleaning up after the storm took a week-n-half in the neighborhood. During that time, the power was out for a whole week. Luckily, several of their neighbors had outside kitchens that were either feed by wood or propane.

Some of their neighbors got together and rented large plastic containers and filled them with ice from an ice plant. That way they could keep any food items they needed cold. Talia helps her neighbors and family with restoring their neighborhood.

As for the person who sprayed painted the side of her house and who had driven by her house. The police detectives on the case were still looking into everything that has happen. She had been told to stand down.

One afternoon, after Talia came back from helping one of their neighbors. She heads upstairs to her bedroom and started stripping out of her clothes. A man wearing a black ski mask comes out of Talia’s bedroom closet and attacks her. He puts his glove hands around her neck and start squeezing.

Talia tries to block his hands, but she feels them lock around her neck. She tries kicking, but she falls backwards onto her bed, as he straddles her body. She tries grabbing the lamp on her nightstand and hit him with it. She couldn’t break his grip around her neck.

The man squeezes Talia’s neck harder. He was paid good money to kill her. An evil smile appears on his face underneath the ski mask.

Talia was slowly passing out from being choked. She searches around with her free hand, before she is about to pass out and feels her cellphone. She wraps her finger around her cellphone and with as much strength as she could muster. She slams it into the side of her attacker’s head repeatedly.

Talia feels her attacker loosen his hands around her neck. She manages to bring her injured leg up and knee the bastard between his legs. When he falls backwards, she scrambles to get by him, but feel her ankle grabbed. She grabs her laptop and slams it hard on his head, while yelling for HELP!

Ralph had come walking into the house from running an errand for his parents, when he hears a commotion coming from upstairs. As he gets closer to the stairs, he hears Talia scream out for help. He rushes upstairs and hears the commotion coming from Talia’s bedroom.

The door to her bedroom was shut, but he could hear her inside. He tries opening the door, but it didn’t want to budge. He turns around and mule kicks it.

When he turns back around, he spots a person wearing a black ski mask holding his sister up by her neck against the far wall in her bedroom.

“Let go of my sister, asshole.” Ralph charges in and picks up Talia’s broken nightstand and uses it like a baseball bat.

Just before Talia passes out, she spots her older brother Ralph charge into her bedroom. She spots him grabbing the broken leg of her nightstand and uses it like a baseball bat. She passes out from being choked, just as her brother hits the unknown attacker.

Ralph breaks the arm of the attacker. He ducks when the attacker and punches the guy. The attacker tries punching him again, but this time
Ralph tosses the guy out of Talia’s bedroom window. He walks over to the window and spots the attacker lying unconscious on the ground. He turns back around and rushes over to Talia, who had was unconscious, leaning against the wall.

Ralph feels for a pulse and notices she still had one. He pulls his cellphone out of his back pocket and calls 911. After calling 911, Ralph picks his sister up and lay her on the bed. He saw the dark bruising forming around her neck.

“What the hell happen?” As Connor follows the police and paramedics upstairs to his daughter bedroom.

Connor investigates Talia’s bedroom, as the police and paramedics enter it. He spots Talia lying unconscious on her bed. Ralph leads the police back downstairs and outside to the guy he tossed out of the window.

Everyone in the neighborhood gathers on their lawn as the police and paramedics appear at the Miller’s place. They watch as several police officers go around behind the house. The first ambulance that arrived has been inside the house for several minutes and come back out with Talia strapped to a gurney.

Another ambulance arrives and the paramedics run towards the back of the house with a gurney and come back with a man strapped to it with two police officers following. The second ambulance drives off with their sirens blaring, and a patrol car following behind them.
