The next few months Talia is busy with catching up with all her college work she missed while she was in the hospital recovering from the attack. The counseling sessions with Dr. Luna helped her cope with the entire trauma she has been going through. She never realized she had so much emotional trauma built up inside of her.
As for the rabies shots she had to get. Talia was finally happy to get those finally done. When her doctor tests her blood, they find no signs of the viral disease in Talia’s blood. She was happy as well, including her parents.
The amendment she and several others in the LGBTQ community worked to get the signatures to be added to the next elections was successful. They had more than they needed and there was no way it could be denied.
As for the business she and several others created to raise money. It was becoming very popular and was being advertised on Amazon, Temu, and several online shopping sites. They had to rent a building to set up production in. The building had a store front where local customers could come in and buy their products or have custom shirts, or other products made.
As for work at the detective agency, her boss Mr. Garcia was letting her go more and more out into the field with the different private investigators that worked at the agency. She was learning a lot of things from them that her studies didn’t cover. She made sure to take notes from their advice. Some of the stake outs she went on were either so boring that she had a hard time staying awake or so spicy and weird that she could write a novel about the acts.
As for the guy that attack her, he plea bargain for a reduce sentence. He had recorded all the conversations he had with his client. The police didn’t tell Talia or her family who had sent him to attack her, but everyone in her family could guess who it was.
Talia and her brother had to appear to testify in court. The defense attorney tried everything to make Talia look bad on the stand. But thanks to some coaching and tips form Mr. Garcia, she turned the tables on the defense attorney.
When it came to her brother on the stand, that was a different story. He made sure the judge and jury knew exactly why he did what he did to the attacker. Talia’s parents and Talia herself had watched how the jury reacted to the details and how the judge himself reacted.
When the judge finally spoke at the end of the trail. He was hot under the collar. The jury didn’t take long to debate the verdict or the punishment. They had all agreed that the person who attacked Talia should be charged for every charge the state could give the person, without the ability to get parole for eight years.
When everything was all said and done, Talia and her family went out to celebrate. Talia now looks forward to continue her fight against the unjust laws lawmakers make to put transgender and LGBTQ people down.
