Sounds like ...
... the genesis of the university female Mafia :)

Sounds like
This committee could be rather interesting

"They had 100 years start on us"
Made me smile on a very busy day. Luv ya, Trish!
Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings
and sub-teen children with an IQ off the scale.
To quote the gorgeous Bev; "Still lovin' it."

A giggle and a delight
Isn't Trish the cat's pajamas? A hunred years start on us, indeed! What a sketch!
And, Norma Harrington sounds like a lady after my own heart. Perhaps Cathy has found her mentor? Regardless, with the two of them ganging up on the rest of the university, they'd be best off to surrender meekly.
Red MacDonald
Dr. Harrington
It looks like the two Drs. are going to along famously, and it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't become really good friends, in spite of the age difference. Cathy has several female friends, but I don't recall one that is a really good friend unless you count Stella, and I feel I must!
Scritches and scratches to your two co-authocats.
Don't let someone else talk you out of your dreams. How can we have dreams come true, if we have no dreams?
Katrina Gayle "Stormy" Storm
Hobnobbing with the uppers
I actually feared that she would be in a huge bind having had the ruction with nurse ratchet, but she seems to have extracted herself. Jolly good then, carry on. :)
Gwendolyn
Scottish mafia?
Wonder if the Cameron Clan will be amused when they learn what Norma Harrington said about them as well as Tom Agnew.

Forewarned is forearmed.
Very wise of Cathy to test the waters first.
As to the Victorian I.Q. theory, how could they tell, the only people likely to be tested by any reasonably scientific yardstick would have been fellow academics and such-like. Doubt whether the average kid down a pit at six years of age would have ever got near an I.Q test.
Loved Trish's reply though.
And still lovin' it Ang.

IQ
Can be determined by many things other than testing. Vocabulary, word use, languages spoken, personal versus prevailing attitudes. A good profiler can work it out.
Very interesting....
As the saying goes. I can't wait to see where this goes!

Sounds
Sounds like things could get messy... Showing up with her crossbow, to the first meeting, probably wouldn't be a good idea either. But, the point about "batches" of guys having difficulty listening to the only lady in a meeting... Unless the only reason for the meeting is to listen to her, the deck is stacked against here... Specially if the others have a long standing mutual relationship. Been there, seen that. She'll have to pick her battles, if she wants to get anything done. Oy...
I'd be curious to hear why Tom had her predecessors number on his phone... And why she's a "predecessor". Is she older than Tom?
Thanks,
Annette
I didn't use the word predecessor
and why shouldn't Tom know her if they've been teaching at the same university for years? It's not unusual for people to step down after so many years on any committee or seek re-election.

Okay...
Thought you had - in her chat with the dean. And, yes you are right that colleagues in different departments do sometimes end up with each others phone numbers. That said, my wife doesn't have THAT many on her cell phone. Maybe a dozen. Perhaps she'll end up with more if she's there another 20 years. As to stepping down from a committee... Yes, at least over here, it's rare for someone to stay on a committee for a really long time (they get appointed to them for 3 year terms, typically).
I thought you had indicated that the dean had indicated that she was the lady that Cathy was replacing. Guess I'll need to re-read. *sighs* Memory seems to be failing. :-(
Interesting article on IQ though...

God I hate politics
I would never want to be involve with boardroom type yipping and posturing. Yuck.
