“You know,” Dan says to me quietly to avoid being overheard. “Ben is, despite his crudity, actually correct. You are very good looking and, to top it off, easy to be around. You’re really making this summer something special for all of us. I’m glad you came. Are you sure you can’t stay?”

“Thanks for the compliment,” I quietly reply, “but, no, I can’t stay. Anyway, I haven’t really done anything to earn the praise.”

“Sure you have,” he responds. “You are like a cool breeze on a hot day. Just being here makes everything better. Too bad you’re not staying. I think that we’d make great friends, you and me.”

Oh no! Where’s the fire extinguisher? Somebody has to put out this guy’s fire–fast!

Chapter 28: Pool Party & The City

Marion starts her new job in the facility and makes a big impression, although not quite the one she intended.

A visit to Site Security followed by another trip to the mall. Marion discovers shoes.

“So,” Laurie says as we bike back to her house in the dark, “you’re actually going on a date.”

“This is not a ‘date’ date,” I try to explain. “Just a couple of friends getting together to work on a project then hanging out at the fireworks with my favorite cousin.”

“Whatever,” she says with a knowing smile as if she’s not really buying the argument.

“Hey Scamp.” Nevyre called to the stable boy.

Adiah blushed. “Why are you calling me a scamp?” She demanded.

“Anyone who tries to pick-pocket me is a scamp.” Nevyre pulled a silver out of his purse and made it tumble back and forth on the back of his knuckles. Adiah watched with fascination. Nevyre tossed the silver to the disguised princess. “Practice that. It will help you to nimble up those delicate fingers of yours.” He smiled.

“You did it again,” Laurie sighs as we ride home together.

“Did what?” I ask. I haven’t a clue what she is talking about.

“Put another boy under your spell,” she replies.

Chapter 26: Planting Seeds

His face moves close to my ear whispering,

“This is it bitch, Lesley chucked me after our last little meeting and I’ve not had the pleasure of any female company since” his hand over my mouth as he spoke. “So me and you are going inside to have some fun, I’ve god bags of seed saved up and I’m going to empty it into you, every hole you’ve got, by the time I’m finished with you, you’ll be begging for more rather than have it off with that little pussy you married, so move”

Marlon finds out what was done to him in the facility, and why, and ponders some unexpected choices.

I awoke the next morning refreshed and ready to go. The fact that when I looked in the mirror I saw Tracey staring back at me was still difficult to get used to. Padding across my room I entered the small bathroom and started the shower.

Is Marlon paranoid, or is someone really out to get him? He might still be in danger as everyone tries to find out what's going on.

Marlon discovers that his situation is much worse than he could have possibly imagined, but assistance comes from unexpected directions.
