The road of life is filled with ups and downs. These can be hills and valleys spanning a wondrous vista. But let us not forget that even on our most favorite roads there may be potholes and hairpin curves.

It was a Thursday afternoon, July 14th. I remember because we lost power, and my life changed. Without the computer or television to entertain me, I became bored. Looking for something to do, I noticed the laundry basket full of Sis’s lingerie. To this day, I could not tell you why I was curious.

She was already in her own posing kit, all leather pelmet and pointy boots, and as she stood before me, hands on hips, mock-glowering, I had a small moment when I saw Sam peeking out from her eyes, and I realised I could hardly remember my brother, for Sarah was just so, so right in her skin.

This is a work of fiction, the characters and the Café are fictitious and any resemblance to places or persons living or dead is coincidental.
