Princess For Hire: User Recommendations! Volume 1

So, "Princess For Hire" seems to be doing well, no? Well, one thing I'm hoping to make a regular thing as I write this story is asking for reader input. While I know where it's going, there's still plenty of room to add in things people might be interested to see, and if it helps me flesh out the story a little more, well that's all the better!

So, to start with, I've got a couple of requests myself.

Princess For Hire Part 3

Princess for Hire

By Melanie Ezell

Daniel Henderson has managed to beat the odds and been accepted into Kingston Academy, one of the best private high schools in the country. However, when Daniel is invited to take part in a special program, he learns that there's more to the school than he had thought...

NOTE: This story is loosely -- as in VERY loosely -- based on the manga/anime "Princess Princess." After the initial concept, any similarities are mostly coincidental, unless they aren't. (Puzzle that out why don't ya.)

Alright, I'm sorry, but that's just... wrong. How can they do something like this to someone? And I think what upsets me more is that they have the support of the community according to the story.

Another Con

Another Con

It's con time again! Another short adventure with Josie and Greg.

While this story can stand on its own, check out my stories "The Con" and "The Next Con" for more of Josie's adventures -- all conveniently bite-sized, of course.

What is love? Sometimes it's giving up everything you want for the sake of someone else's happiness -- even if just for one last game.

Echoes- Part 7

Echoes Part VII

New revelations and an unexpected encounter bring Miriam's confusion and anger to a head. Something has to be done... but what?

(Note: This set of chapters has a murder scene. It's not all that intense, but those who are a little squeamish about such things might wanna be careful. From this point on, the maturity rating of the chapters ramps up a bit.)

Character Portraits

When I write a story, I generally have a definite idea of what my characters look like in my head. I know what color their hair is, what their skin tone is, any little scars they might have that identify them, the way they quirk their lips when they smile, and so on and so forth. However, I also know that what I see as my character's appearance isn't always what others imagine.

The Next Con

Sometimes friends can surprise you... all it takes is a little trust.

Note: This is a pseudo-sequel to my short story "The Con." While it isn't necessary to read the first story to understand this one, I would like to recommend that you do.

The Corpse of Shelley Poe

This is a story that I wrote for the BCTS Halloween 2009 TG Terror contest. I didn't finish it in time, but I still wanted to put it up for people to read.

WARNING: This story was written in the gothic style: Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Bram Stoker, etc. The language is unwieldy and antiquated on purpose -- if this turns you off on reading it, please still give it a chance, though I should also remind you that the chosen subject matter fits right along with the style, so be prepared.

So, yesterday me, my roommate, and two of her friends went and saw Harry Potter -- which was great, by the way -- but it seems that I confused everyone when we were out.

How, you ask?

I used the men's public restroom at the movie theater.

I spend a lot of time on this site. I mean, a LOT. One thing I do from time to time is click through the names of active users to check out their profile pages and see what stories they have marked as favorites. I like the idea of going to the page of an author I enjoy and seeing what stories they recommend or are inspired by. Unfortunately, not many people use this feature of the site, one of my favorites.

TG Tropes

In everything there are certain stereotypes that get played upon constantly whether people intend to or not. Everybody knows that not everyone fits them, but when we think of whatever subject they apply to, they immediately spring to mind. 'Baseball players do steroids,' 'the good guy always wins,' these are just a couple of the more common stereotypes and tropes that people can easily identify from popular culture.

Here's my question: what do you consider to be the stereotypes of TG fiction? There's a ton of them, so they should be easy to list. Bonus points for catchy names for them.

Cary tried to pay attention to the movie, but just like the walk to the restaurant he kept finding his eyes wandering over to the beautiful creature next to him. *I REALLY need to talk to Miriam about this. This is insane.* Miriam turned her face away from the screen and smiled at him briefly, and he felt the blood rushing to his cheeks.

The feeling of embarrassment quickly turned to one of surprise. Her face never left the screen as her small hand travelled across the armrest, hovering above his right thigh, before dipping between his legs...

It's over 5000!!!

Today I got sent home early by my boss at work 'cause I'm sick. I had to call in Tuesday night for the same reason. Since it started, I've seemed to run the gamut of symptoms from stomach trouble to sinus problems to lord knows what else. Yesterday wasn't as bad as Tuesday thankfully- I could function well enough to clean my apartment- but today was just weird. I have officially moved into that strange yet somewhat happy spot where my entire body is sore and I'm dizzy for no apparent reason, yet my brain chemistry is wonky enough I feel a bit detached from it all.

Alright, so I've got like a lot of projects I'm working on right now. The problem I'm having is that I could desperately use some guidance and help keeping on track. I tend to be one of those people who bounce back and forth between different projects getting a bit here and a bit there, with nothing coming in a timely fashion.

and being there for them ...

I know that, for a lot of us, our appearance is something that we can be a bit touchy about. For some of us, it can be an issue of not passing well, or even at all. Regardless, I thought it might be interesting to see who here was brave enough to stand up and let their face be seen. There are a few of us who have been so daring as to use image sigs or images of ourselves in posts before. For me, this will probably be the only time you see me post an image anywhere on this site. I just thought that, since the age question is out and running, why not a pics thread?

I'm back in business! Thanks to the wonders of grand opening sales, I am now in possession of a computer again! You know what this means? I can actually work on my stories again without having to worry about being fired if my boss catches me! YAY!

What this also means is that hopefully I'll be posting chapters of my stories a lot more often, since I'll have more time to work on them, and I won't have to wait until I can borrow a friend's computer to post them. So, be on the lookout the next couple of weeks, 'cause new chapters is comin'!

One of those days

You ever had one of those days where you wake up and roll over to look at the clock and scream because you're going to be late for work so you jump out of bed and rush around in a blind panic trying to get ready but you still know you can't make it in time so you slam the door and call to let them know you're going to be late and get a confused silence because you've been asleep three hours and misread your clock and still have over twelve hours before you have to be at work? I hate those days.

Like all us here tend to do, I am as of right now suffering from a bad case of Writer's block. Sadly, it's not just on one or two but ALL my stories. Add to that that the flash drive I use for saving them has gone AWOL, costing me a few days' work (I had a backup past that, thank gods) and my writin's not doin' too good.

I'm also re-re-re-rereading Tuck, so that's a bit time consuming as well. I hope to have more of Cassie and Miriam out by mid-February at the latest. Wish me luck, please!

Over a year, but the next three chapters are here! Thanks to John in Wauwatosa for test reading and suggestions! I'll try to have the next chapters in less time.

Miriam's doctor's appointment doesn't go as well as he would have liked. What's going on, and how can he stop it? More importantly, is he even sure he wants to?

New Kids on the Block got a bunch of hits,
Chinese food makes me sick,
And I think it's fly when girls get fine for the summer,
For the summer,
I like girls who wear Abercrombie and Fitch,
I'd take her if I had one wish,
But she's been gone since that summer,
Since that summer.

I'd tried hiding it, denying who I was, and making myself fit in, but in the end his words proved right.
