Maybe Stella Will Stay Zoned Out Until After The Will Is Read
I think maybe we can all hope that Stella stays tuned out about Des until after the will is read and Cathy finds out what Des left her. It would be a disaster to her already fragile mental state if she snapped out of it at the same time she finds out he wanted Cathy instead of her.
And Stella Could Already Know
About the Will and that Des left Cathy something. That could be why she is acting so strangely.

Uh I've one thing to say.
"Another fine mess you've gotten us in, Ollie."
Okay, I don't know what it has to do with the story but I like the quote anyway. Listening to Stella is like wow... It "feels" like something's just waiting to crash, and I suspect Cathy'll be right there for it to land on...
I wonder what's next...

I'm hoping Stella will snap back to reality and sanity
I don’t think this is a joke on her part, I think it's PTSD.
I'm hoping the will won’t be a total disaster. I hope Des says Cathy was the great unobtainable image of the perfect woman but that he had too much respect for Simon to try anything and knew it would only hurt Cathy as well.
BUT if he also says in the will that in seeing the unobtainable woman he was reminded of the equally wonderful woman he’d know for ages and foolishly ignored. That he found in desiring Cathy he'd come to remember his first and only lasting love, Stella. He leaves most everything to his love, Stella but the film equipment to Cathy in thanks for her being the catalyst that brought him and Stella back together.
But if his will goes heavily in favor of Cathy, there will be blood!

Scary
Considering what Stella is capable of when she gets emotional and depressed, this is scaring the heck out of me.
Tom and Cathy need to get her into care. Either that, or collect every pill, poison and sharp or pointy thing in the whole house and lock it up somewhere and make sure she doesn't leave the house on her own. Of course, that still leaves the gas oven, the cars in the garage, and hanging.
How about that lovely sanitarium she recovered in after her suicide attempt?
Agreed
This is not a normal reaction. Stella does need help, and quickly. Everything bad is happening too fast for her.
I think this chapter is a
I think this chapter is a testament to how strong Cathy is at handling crisis situations. She may fly off the handle often but when it counts she is a rock.

Full of broken thoughts

Oh dear
This chapter is SO sad. I have tears in my eyes. Stella doesn't deserve what's happened to her.

wonderful dialog.
