The First Phone Call Home

I decided not to venture into the “Eden Cafe” from the outside looking in. I could see two dozen white men in greasy overalls gathering around a few broken down tables. No doubt they were holding a fellowship breakfast for the local branch of the Ku Klux Klan. And by no means did I want to be the guest speaker or be invited to semi-weekly cross burning. I'll take my chances somewhere else.

Chapter 6

Marilyn walked with her to the stairs. She held out her hand.

“See you later, Brightman. I’m heading back to my office to plug a new name into our searches. We’ve been trying to get the names of the robbers that Anderson was with out of the records for a week. They all went into juvenile and the records sealed. We’re looking at another avenue, but I believe that we now have the one we really wanted.”

She went up to the team office and stood by the ‘Rascal Wall’.

Chapter 9

Next morning, we were both awake early and I was resting my head on Randalls’ shoulder. It was quiet in the hotel, just the sound of the air movement from the conditioning. He squeezed me.

“I guess that we should remember these moments before the storm. You realise that today is the first day of the rest of your life. Up until now, you’ve been a good presenter and reporter, with some stand-out stories. Today, you’re a multiple Walkley winner, with one of them a gold. That’s something that others have taken decades to earn.”

Chapter Two – Endgame

Potential juror Leigh Saunders has been kidnapped and faces blackmail by a mob boss and his henchmen to ensure a not guilty verdict. One of the henchmen has become infatuated with Leigh and is trying his best to seduce her. As the time approaches for Leigh's release from captivity, she must make some decisions: Will she succumb to the charms of Willaim Sauber? Will she sway the jury and let the mob boss walk free. Final chapter.

Chapter Three – Bali Hai

Crissy settles into life at Karumba where she is a very popular girl. Aunt Greta takes Crissy to Bali where she meets with a business partner while Crissy undertakes breast enhancement surgery. Crissy meets a 'special lady' at a bar in Bali and romance ensues. Final chapter.

Chapter 11

The village control room was manned from the fifth, with our cars sporting the new stickers. We each had a list. There were some of the old and some new names on them. We were to prepare and start the rounds on the sixth.

Chapter 6

When we went back to the pool, Bertie was snuffling, a sure sign that he was starting to wake up. Jenny grinned.

“He’s a world class snorer. How do you put up with it?”

“He’s much better than he was when I first met him. He wondered why no girl would stay the night, so I told him to see a doctor to fix his deviated septum. I think that he appreciated my telling him the truth. Good earplugs help as well.”

I went to Bertie and gave him a kiss on his forehead. His eyes opened.

Chapter 22

Later, that week, Willow got her statement from Rufus, with the income from album sales up to the end of September. With all the different albums out there, she was on a sixth of the Rocks albums and a third of the VivWillow ones and had earned two point three million while she had been away. Garry was on the same income for the Rocks albums and the charity show DVD. All of her expenses had been paid by the promoter in America, and she had gained a large number of new outfits.

Twenty years have gone by since then and so much has changed; I suppose a story in its own right, but I only set out to write about how Alice and I emerged into the world, and that much has more or less been covered. The rest is bullet points. No, not real bullets silly! There was only one of those and Peter its unfortunate recipient.

“If I decide that it might be more convenient all round Sally, and it’s still a big if, do you think that I could be made to look realistic and presentable as a woman?” I finally conceded after thinking about what was happening to me.

“I’ll be honest with you. As well as your short slim physique and the breasts, you are not nearly as muscular as you were, your waist and bum are becoming much more femininely shaped, and your skin is much softer than it used to be, the hormones have definitely get a huge grip on you. Even without the clothes and a more feminine hairstyle you are already looking more like a woman than a man. If we can get something done with your hair, and apply a bit of makeup, you will look no different to any other woman, and will easily pass as one. You are not on your own with this, I will help you transform yourself as much as I can, and Harry told you that if you want to appear at work as a female that will not present a problem, why not give it a try?’

After the heady delights of living as Catherine Morland in Regency Bath, I came down to earth and back to normality, or at least as normal as my life had now become.

I thought I had posted this ages ago but realised I'd only half written it. I have finished it and offer it for your entertainment - oh, no you don't, oh yes I do. Probably worth re-reading Principal Boy first, it will make more sense.

Chapter 23

That evening, the show was extra special. The full house had heard what had happened on Friday night and was keen to experience the same thing again. Singing the iconic club song was one thing when the stands were two-thirds filled with supporters, but a full house singing was something not to miss.

Medical Center, Napa Valley Recovery Center:
Sara and Cindy wave goodbye to several girls as they are picked up by either their family member or by the Uber that had been arranged for them. This part of the job, the identical sisters loved.

“It’s good to see those girls going back to their families or with new families.” Cindy looks at her twin while watching the cars drive away.

When one door closes, another opens.

Slowly I opened my eyes. My body did not feel as hot, and I was no longer seeing pastel unicorns floating around my head, also those pastel colored unicorns were no longer being preyed upon by the neon glowing dinosaurs. The room though was full of shadows, lots of shadows.

Our dog man shouted something in Indonesian, and two other uniforms trotted up with spades; as he pulled the animal back, those two spades struck the ground.

The next day, Ash thought long and hard about the changes about to be made to her life. She was committed in her mind that her future was as a woman, but realised that there would be a lot of hurdles to overcome on the way.

I, me, the one with the rapid-fire gob, it was still hanging open, so I hauled it shut by pure force of will, and sought the right words, hoping to avoid the reflex “Didn’t think you were a queer”. I may be ‘queer’ myself by most people’s definition, but I had to learn about homophobia. I’m as straight as they come, in every double meaning of that word, and the idea of two men together had always been a bit ‘ick’ to my younger self. I know full well how wrong those thought are, so did my best to make it ‘were’, but my hindbrain still kicks in at inappropriate moments.
