Well it nice to see
Everyone pinching in for a member of the family. And choosing Simon to lead the "Simon says" game was funny (though overly tacky).

Birthdays
Yes birthdays are expensive these days.
Cathy should have thought of that when she 'adopted,- fostered,- accumulated' all these kids.
Still they bring lots of fun and enjoyment but one way or another we end up paying.
Liked the last few sentences about over-protective parents de-skilling their kids.
Too true! Too true!
Glad you managed to post the missive Angharad. The marvels of internet and lap-tops eh!! No escape.!
Good luck with the family. I hope everything works out.

What I Think Cathy Meant
"I'm tired now. Ask me next year closer to your birthday when I've forgotten the cost and the work and only remember how much fun you had".
Busy!
That tribe are always on the move - even when the action in an episode is split over several days rather than hours!
At least the infection cleared up in time for them to have a party for Trish over the weekend. We're really getting into party season here - the previous weekend was Mother's Day, next week's likely to be Easter, and a couple of weeks after that it'll be Livvie's birthday! I'm not sure when Mima or the boys have their birthdays - we haven't found out the boys yet and I can't remember when Mima's is - which is yet another reason for my infernal chapter summary project! Talking of which, 900-926 and 939-945 have been done and uploaded - I'll try to get the middle section of the 900s done tomorrow (day off!).
If anyone fancies a go at writing summaries for any chapters between 150 and 899, feel free :) Either add it directly to the sheet (there's a link in one of my blogs), or PM / email me (nickname at gee mail).
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
Oh the joys
of children's party's....Does anyone else remember having to make sure their own children did not win Pass the Parcel, And as for the skullduggery involved in Musical Chairs......Well lets just say little girls are every bit as bad as boys at pushing each other out of the way....Still at least they all enjoyed themselves,And after all isn't that what its all about...

Having put on many parties
for little girls I have to agree that they are just as energetic and sometimes difficult as little boys. Especially at ages like 6.
have to scold Cathy a bit for saying that parties are too expensive for every year. She keeps complaining that the bank is overpaying her. Let the kids have their fun and try to enjoy it with them.
I can sympathise with Cathy
I can sympathise with Cathy regarding birthday expenses. So many children now-a-days just have to have a way to 'one up' everyone of their friends, so they are always looking for that 'edge'. My own nieces and nephews 'conned' their Mother, my Sister, into going to "Chucky Cheese", which is a pizza place with a load of games and video games. Very expensive when you have around 10-15 kids at a time. She was 'so fortunate' to have two sets of twin girls, 14 months apart! Then the other location wanted by her son, thankfully a single boy, was a place called 'Gatty Town', again a pizza and games business. It seems like no-one can simply settle for the cake and party at home anymore. Jan
How was your trip
I do hope that it went well.

You know, there are...
times I'm really glad we don't have as many people living in this house! It's bad enough when everyone gets sick, but that many? ouch! I'm surprised they weren't quarantined or something. LOL - not really.
As to the parties, the expense IS getting WAY out of hand! Some of the things/places we've seen are amazing.
That said, our daughters have both been really happy to have parties at home. Our parties tended to have some sort of "craft" at the beginning, to keep the monsters, I mean angels, busy until the later arrivers have arrived... Then, several games - relay races (say some jelly beans in a spoon - you have to move about 10 feet, and some such. It's not unusual to have things be themed, around whatever's currently popular (same game, just different description - one year, the jelly bean race was a "Quiditch" race, they had to carry the jelly beans, while astride a small broom). This keeps the cost down, and the kids seem to have a blast!
Thanks for this episode. I hope your visit went well.

Sick
When my brother was alive he worked at a local hospital, I worked an a local industry, the youngest worked at a day care and elementary school, the middle child was at a (what else?) middle school, and the eldest was at a high school. We were a junction for every bug that came around. Ah, memories.
Thanks, Ang I used to like pizza, now I hear "Vomit"
What a great birthday party!
Now to do it six more times for the others.
But many hands make light work.
