Yup, nice and normal family,
Yup, nice and normal family, yup, yup, yup. Sounds like a fun party. I can't recall ever having one, though my sister had a few and I was relegated to elsewhere, so I didn't even get to enjoy it vicariously. That kinda sucked 'cause we were born on the same day, just eleven years apart. Because mom had trouble and nearly died, my eleventh birthday was sorta forgotten until nearly Christmas, and then, well that is another story...Oh well......Lets just say that present time on birthday or Christmas was never really that good as I never -or rarely and that one time was ruined when it was broken on arrival and it didn't get replaced until nearly February- got anything I really wanted. Mostly boy clothes because I couldn't ask for what I really wanted, not even in clothing. I got my joy out of buying things for family and friends at Christmas and seeing their pleasure, so it wasn't all bad.

I have enjoyed reading this story
Julie
The hordes are in town
Reminds me of old westerns where a horde of cowboys come into the nearest saloon and whoop it up. Controlled pandemonium and she has to go through it 6 times a year for the kids.
She needs a social secretary and NOW.
I was soooo jealous that Trish could screech like any normal girl though.

A couple of opportunities for tears in this one
Loved Cathy's little trick on Trish and the outcome. Yes, I know we all just read it but I have to copy the exchange anyway. Children are such precious creatures.
“You did remember,†she hugged me round the waist and was crying.
“Of course I did,†I put my hand on her shoulder.
“I began to think you’d forgotten,†she said sniffing.
“How could I, you’ve spent half your life reminding me for the past three weeks.â€
“Oh yes,†she sniggered, wiping her nose in my jeans—lovely child.
Then toward the end, Maureen made one of those statements that remind us all of who Cathy is. Seems like the goddess or who ever she is feels the same way.
“Because you needed to be a mother and there were children out there who needed motherin’.â€
Thanks Angharad. enjoyed this one a lot.
Issues resolved then.
Not the usual desperate fare but a satisfactory outcome.
At least Maureen's got a proxy family and we all know Cathy could do with the occasional break. (Every day.)
Something of a 'noo-rmal' chapter this one but if we never touched normality we'd be well bladdered.
Still lovin' it Angie.
Love an' 'ugs.

Growing old disgracefully.
Sweet...
The last conversation between Cathy and Maureen was a nice ending the this episode.

Poor Maureen
Have observed throughout my rather long and varied life how people who are really nice and kind to other people ALWAYS get taken advantage of and are shamelessly exploited by other people who are not so nice and kind. It ALWAYS happens, and neither sort of person can change their role and refuse to be shamelessly exploited and taken advantage of or stop being so selfish and inconsiderate, because they are both sorts of people just born that way.
It is sad isn't it.

Trish's Party
Thanks A+B+I (assorted party fare): it certainly sounds as if Trish has had a fantastic celebration.
I can remember some parties where the kids went home full of junk food and as high as kites from all the various dyes and artificial colours in the fizzy drinks, ice-blocks and other party foods. Of course, with Cathy being the responsible parent she is, that would never happen here—would it?
Still, it wouldn't be a kids' birthday party without all the perennial favourites, including jellies, etc.
Good stuff, A+B+I, but why to I feel that you're lulling us into another false sense of security, before you hit us with another crisis?

Dear Angharad.
I have just caught up with the latest episodes. It was nice to see Maureen again, I am glad she looking better and feeling more comfortable as herself.
This was an emotional week for a few, culminating in Trish’s birthday. This lovely story goes from strength to strength.

well I certainly didnt see storyline taking this twist of events
I suspose i should of but, there's still alot of questions not answered, the biggest one is I have, is police involvement and doesnt appear charges either.. which eludes me how this could be so ... if nothing else ... the one that ran off, at minimum should of had something...therefore mention something occured besides mess swept under rug.
well on with the storyline... i'm in shock (smiles)
And a good time
was had by most everyone. I suspect even Cathy enjoys herself.
Birthday parties are wonderful, for kids
Maureen is a gold plated dear, keep her around.
Well, disaster should be just around the corner.
