What was it with Simon rushing out immediately to get Cathy's purse repaired? And what about the contents of the purse when struck by a knife?
... and of course we all remember Cathy doing her part to subdue attackers.
Cathy is very lucky that
Cathy is very lucky that someone yelled, because she was being blindsided by the girl with the knife. Although the knife did not cut or stick Cathy, does the UK have a law regarding Assault 1st degree (that means using anything that be construed as a weapon; and especially so if the item/s used just happen to be under the listing of a deadly weapon as knives and guns fall under? Her comments/thoughts regarding the decreasing of manners, respect, and "out in the public" general deportment is spot on. Way too much of 'it's all about me, no-one else matters'; and it seems to be getting worse each year.
Criminal Charge
The names used for crimes will vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. However, Attempted Murder seems to be commonplace. Perhaps the Crown Prosecution Service will charge Attempted Murder and plea bargain down to some sort of high level assault. Regardless, I would expect the miscreant to be locked up for a considerable length of time.

I blame housing benefits being handed out willy-nilly to every 'cun-dumpster' that finds a gland to inseminate it with an illegitimate bastard so as to get a free house via said housing benefits. Housing benefit has bred at least three or possibly four and even five generation of dependency culture comprising fat, amoral slags.

She had no need !!
