It was not often that I went back home, I had done the usual thing from school, gone university not thinking what I was leaving, then the job with prospects and soon after a husband and a couple of kids and I was comfortable in my middle class suburban life with the occasional trip home to see my mum.

By the time we reached the Dunkerque bypass the novelty of being on the ‘wrong' side of the road was past and things on board the minibus returned to the usual travel occupations. Personally I was feeling a bit dozy; we' d been on the go for about twelve hours after all.

“Lightweight,” Mand teased .

“Whatever.”

When Samantha said she was three weeks late we knew that a grandchild was on the way. That's when Sabrina and Nichole say something that blows the minds of Kylie and I. They both say “hum mom, dad we are both a month late.” I sit the twins and Samantha down and ask them who they have been with. The name that they said shocks us both. They say “Sara Beth” Well Samuel. I get up to go get my she-male daughter. That's when I hear noises from Jenny's room.

Dorothy’s Dream

One night, as I lay in bed, I began to dream ...

I found myself walking along a trail with a group of girls, who laughed and smiled at me as we walked, and I felt very comfortable in their company.

Then we came to a fence, and I climbed over it, only to discover that the other girls had found a gate in the fence that allowed them to enter. One of the girls hugged me, and said, “Always doing things the hard way, huh?”

I could only blush ...

“— I might have been like that guy who Twisted into a giant cockroach in his sleep.”

 

“That’s an urban legend,” I said. “There’s a book where that happened, but it was way pre-Antarctic Flu, pure fantasy.”
